i just watched a bunch of the close-up vids with decent sound.
the stones played very well. if you were up close, and could
concentrate on the band, you got a wonderful show. back farther,
where the crowd itself is part of the show, not so much.
the crowd was way off its game, getting old i guess, or even
if not old, burnt out or something, uninspired, going through
the motions

Technically you are right, SFF. But I wouldn't call them rarities either.

Guess I know what you mean,Stoneage...
but isn't it strange...many people hoped for Monkey Man tonight, for example, considering the song as a rarity and the reports about been rehearsed.
Including tonights show Wild Horses has been performed live 147 times...up to now Monkey Man 145...

Ruby Tuesday,Whip....both been played more often than The Worst or Wild Horses.

Of course it's not statistics what one regard as rare or rarity..in case you attended all No Filter shows you probably have seen Just A Fool about 30 times ( including Desert Trip...) which means personally a lot of Fools, statistically a rarity...

I think it's a huge difference attending a show or watching clips,snippets...whatever.
To attend a show it doesn't guarantee a great show...but watching from the sofa you will not get the live impression, the emotions...everything else...

Of course you know that...just got carried away a bit thinking of the show I attended last year.

I wasn't there tonight...but judging from the clips...that Start Me Up Ronnie solo was a funny and bizarre moment... smileys with beer

My VERY HONEST opinion: Very disappointing setlist. SFTD as an opener doesn’t work at all, especially at daylight and without the pyros. The only hell-ish thing about the song these days is that it sounds boring as hell. The band sounds and looks bored, too. Their playing has gotten worse and worse over the last decade in my opinion. They sound like shit pretty often. Remember Coachella? That was embarrassing and painful to listen to at times. Stale and boring setlists, lack of energy musically and visually, ridiculous ticket prices - not much has changed since the ABB Tour it seems. The magic is gone - at last for me.

He gets it.

The time math is mind-boggling sometimes. SFTD is now half a century old. Imagine the Rolling Stones opening in 1969 with a song from 1919. lol

Yes Rev. It's a joke really paying a hundred box (or Euros...) and standing (or sitting) one kilometer away from the stage. I guess the pit is worth it...

They're more interested in being THE ROLLING STONES than being artists, and maybe they always were. Whatever, roll on

Hansman- I agree 100% The have 25 studio albums worth of material to consider
and play stuff never played before. "Neighbors" was a terrible choice. Blow
us away with "Jigsaw Puzzle", "Parachute Woman", "Salt if the Earth",
"If You Can't Rock Me" We Love You", "Stry Cat Blues" etc...... I mean...come on.

Sorry, the blues #'s are less than desirable, and playing original Jagger/Richards songs are more preferable IMO.

But realistically, they haven't really been "a band" since perhaps the mid-seventies. And since 1989 they have been mostly rich guys that get together occasionally to play their old music, have fun, and make money. Nothing wrong with that!

I guess they are from this YT user: [www.youtube.com]

And yes, they have a very decent sound. I'm arriving late to the party but I'm enjoying them. It looks like the folks who were at Croke Park have had a great concert.

i just watched a better but still not clear SMU

y'all are wrong about Ronnie's solo. great anarchic fun,
which otherwise this crowd was not up for

for me Ronnie's SMU solo is the purest Ronnie moment of every
show, an ode to joy from a genuinely upbeat guy

Good press reviews!

"aggressively fey space wizard" lol - great writing

*((copied from above article))
Over the course of the gig Mick gets his head around Irish localism. “Anyone here from Cork? Anyone here from Belfast? Anyone here from Termonfeckin?” he says. We all cheer where appropriate and agree that he’s now eligible to run for office.

Later he reveals that he has grappled with our cuisine. “The four of us went out in Temple Bar and ended up sharing a spice bag!” They have eaten of the spice bag, we think. Now they can never leave.

And all in all, as they pummel my senses during Brown Sugar and Jumpin’ Jack Flash and Start Me Up and a winningly endless, fireworks-enhanced (I can’t get no) Satisfaction, I am astounded.
Even if their slinky, ramshackle, rhythm and blues is increasingly treated as an aide memoire for period dramatists, this is still some of the best rock music ever.

Just saw some of the videos.

Brown Sugar, The Worst, Neighbors.

They all play just fine.

They're having fun.

They obviously still enjoy performing.

Even Charlie was smiling.

I can see them still at it over the next 5 years, easily.

most of them dubliners went to work today, instead of taking the
day off duh. that's why so many arrived late, and screwed up everything

Hadn’t noticed they did Neighbors in C.

I checked, and they did so on Licks tour as well.

Easier on Mick’s voice, no doubt.

Keith needs to let "Sympathy" go. He's fast approaching the state Chuck Berry was in at the end and he's relatively much younger. He doesn't even think about the solo so why bother? Sad.

Correction, MICK needs to let Sympathy go, remember Mick decides what songs are played.

Keith's playing on Sympathy was great - WTF are you talking about?? I am a guitarist by the way and I was impressed with his playing tonight.

How long have you been playing? I've been playing 41 years, in no small part thanks to Keith. Love his solo albums. His solos in the original Beggar's and Ya Yas are classic. I want to cry when I hear these half-dozen notes played to death. To each his own.

I've also been playing guitar for 41 years, and I'm sure there are many on here who play guitar as well. thumbs up

And not saying Keith's Sympathy solo sounds like this, but those same half dozen notes he plays reminds me of a child playing chopsticks on the piano repeatedly.
Might sound OK the first go round, but then gets a bit monotonous and sort of plods along.

Nice version...wish it could be slightly more uptempo, but I understand why it's not.

It has a great, tough tempo here

Just saw the videos.

Band is playing tight.
Audience was weak.
Guitar playing sounds "raw" but that's mainly the soundboard/venue/recording (also other sounds are a tiny bit harsh)

Charlie sometimes seems a little bit tried but plays solid tempo and great drums.
Mick is singing well.
Keith and Ronnie have sometimes glitch or miss the chord but generally they "weave" very well. Keith's rhytm is (still) magic.

Looking forward to Prague!
