Which team were you rooting for back then, btw?
England. I was 9 and was watching at a school friend's house. When I got home celebrating my (German) dad gave me a good hiding. By the next World Cup, 1970, I was a German fan. They beat England then 3-2 after coming back from 2-0 down with 20 minutes to go. Since then I haven't looked back. But I have to keep my mouth shut which is why I usually watch the early tournament in Ibiza. More international there!
All schools were allowed to come in 2-3 hours late for the following game: the absolute thriller of century Italy-Germany in semis.
I watched. Yes, definitely one of the most thrilling World Cup games I've ever seen. Ding dong right until the final whistle and Luigi Riva's winner.
I think England will advanced to the QF's and believe me I am normally very pessimistic about them but for some reason I think this squad is a bit better than the last few WC's. Not to say they are real contenders to win it. That would be ridiculous

This will be fun! I only care about football when there is a major event on, like World Cup or Euro Cup. Other than that I have no clue, but let's see how lucky I will be with just guessing

Over the years we've had a lot of fun taking part in World Cup and Euro prediction games.
I've again started a mini-league for IORR members for the coming World Cup 2018.
All you need to do is predict the scores for the matches, get points and let's see who wins.
Good luck with your predictions!

Yes SilverDagger, I remember that game in Leon (I think), Mexico when they came back from 0-2 down. I was living in Italy, and the games came on in the middle of night.Quote

looking forward to the world cup.
was hoping to see some of it in ibiza, but had to change my plans.
so will be at home, but will catch some of the later games in warsaw.
what i like about the world cup, is it shows up all the players out there who are not team players but still get credit from the media because they have individual skill. in 2014 germany made it clear that the team is more important than the sum of the individuals.
