This is an interview with The Rolling Stones production director Dale Skjerseth a.k.a. Opie, in the local Southampton newspaper today.

For the UK tour there are 26 production trucks, including 17 steel trucks. There is a crew of 200 on travel with seven tour buses.

Really looking forward to seeing this stage in action.
Based only on seeing it online, I'd already rank it as one of their best.

I don’t know if anyone’s remarked on it before, but the LED screens look to me like giant smartphones — and the tour name, “No Filter,” is a hashtag people often attach to their Instagram photos ...

Indeed. It was discussed on the first leg of the tour last year.

" 'The band themselves will fly in from London' -
obviously not aware of the regular National Express service. OAP discounts and group travel savings to be had too, I expect."

'Fans can look forward to a setlist full of classics'. Really? I thought they'd come out and do a Jimmy Reed covers concert, with Mick on bass and Keith on all vocals.

So looking forward to Southampton the stadium is tiny and it's gonna be a blast.
I shall take my tele guitar tuned to open G, you never know they might need me..ha
Be great if they played some chuck berry songs, stuff like around n around and little queenie ... if they did I be in heaven.

Not sure what other shows I'm doing as I be doing them alone,
Turn up on the day and hopefully grab a ticket.
My car is gonna be busy may/June,but I'm ready to roll with the stones.

I'm expecting the same stage set up, can't see them changing the set up as they
Will want more use out of it yet.
They might add a few more fairy lights and tinsel ...yeah lol

While there have been far better stage designs in the past, this one is nice for it's minimalism - straightforward giant blocks. Agree there won't be any change as it's fairly recent and they've pretty much committed to this.
And besides, why would they spend more money for something exciting and new? They're cashing in and milking everything they've got this late in the game.

Why is he talking about two steel towers and not four? Different stage? Guess not. The permit documents showed the 2017 stage

I thought the stage last year was the perfect combo of being unique, functional, big and without bells and whistles not really crucial for enjoying the show 100%.

I assume Allen Dunn retired and this gent is the new logistics person?

Two things from this article I wish I could get clarification on...

1) "...two huge steel towers which will have to be lifted into St. Mary's stadium by crane." If the towers are being transported by truck, what stops them from being assembled inside the stadium? Possibly just this stadium's design?

2) "200 people on crew and seven tour busses" I guess it's safe to assume these tour busses aren't the type that people sleep and lounge in? Either that or a large portion of the crew is actually flying between shows as opposed to being bussed.

Just a couple of random things that made my brain ?????

Peace,
Mr DJA

I'm not sure if this stage has the awe of the Voodoo Lounge and Bigger Bang stages. I'll have to wait and see.
