What a fantastic summer release to enjoy. Get into it and park your snark at the door. Fierce, focused and fun. Watch it with someone you want to impress. These guys are a treasure.

More please.

"Scarlet, why you wearin' my heart on your sleeve, where it ain't supposed to be?"

This.

Some good stuff on here, Brown Sugar, last two minutes of PIB, good version of GOMC, some girls.

I had a few drinks after a tiring day, but really enjoyed watching this.

One last thought, why change the lyrics on some girls or is that too obvious?

I watched the whole DVD this afternoon. Overall, I would say this was a very solid show (although I think this was a weaker show performance wise than earlier stops on this tour) and agree with many posters here that Keith still had his chops down during this period and was on top of his game. Charlie also appears to be playing with energy and enthusiasm. As a whole, I am really enjoying these archive releases-my two personal recent favorites being the Fonda Sticky Fingers show and Totally Stripped (which in my opinion is arguably one of their best musical documents released in the last 10 years).

Face it, this was the end of the Stones as an exciting, still dangerous band. I didn't notice Ronnie's non-contribution because Keith was on fire, as was Charlie. In comparison they seemed flatter on the Licks tour. They hid the musical deficiencies behind theatrics and light shows on the Bigger Bang tour. Now it's a greatest hits band, lucky to still have three original members.

Well I think the arena and club shows in 2002 and '03 were also very exciting, both because of the varied setlists and the inspired playing. Maybe during the Licks-tour Keith started to make a few more mistakes here and there but his playing was still really sharp. The Bigger Bang tour was the first time they started to sound ''flatter'' IMO.

I really enjoy this release overall, the playing is even better than on ''Totally Stripped''. The horns on SFTD though are quite awful...

That Ronnie on that tour was not at best I agree, but in this concert, however, it seems to have sounded good, just listen to OOC or SG and others.
However, I agree that today it sounds better.

What an awesome release From The Vault . I watched San Jose over the weekend and I was mightily impressed . The Stones were on fire and in tip top shape and the performance certainly showed it . Outstanding performance from the whole band , highlights for me were an awesome I Got The Blues with Chuck playing one of his best B3 solos on I Got The Blues ,I mean it was like Billy Preston was reincarnated into the Ivories of that Hammond .Saint of Me,and Out of Control was a tour de force with Mick Jagger singing and dancing and Ronnie playing a monster Crybaby Wah Wah solo and Keith's set was a monster killer duo of You Got the Silver also again with an outstanding slide solo from Ronnie and such soulful singing from Keith and a totally rocking Before They Make Me Run . Standouts also included Honky Tonk (my all time favorite )Midnight Rambler and Start Me Up and Brown Sugar with a killer solo from Bobby Keys .Dare I say one of the best all time live performances from the Glimmer Twins .Such great camera work -to me felt like you were in the front row enjoying every lyric and lick .Bravo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The camera "on the stage" (especially as seen during the band intros) is an angle we never really see in Stones concert films, it feels like we're standing up there with them. A fun new perspective.

This one is really good, imho.

Wonder why it got shelved for almost two decades...?

I'm guessing something went wrong in the live recording process. They clearly don't have the multitrack for this (or else they would have mixed it properly smiling smiley), When it's your latest project you would hesitate to release something imperfect. Now that it's a "From the Vault", we're all a little more understanding.

Both San Jose shows were filmed by Showtime and were to be shown by them at some point in '99-2000. The rumor I've heard was that Mick thought the Stones were "overexposed" at the time and nixed the broadcast. I saw a video of Moonlight Mile in '02 that had the Showtime logo in one corner...! I'm pissed because the bluray I ordered from Amazon(US) hasn't even been shipped!

Bought the Blu Ray/CD package. Really Good release. They still had the juice and the jam!
Especially for Some Girls lol! Too bad all the bounus tracks not included. Would cost over $70 to get the JPN version.

Does anyone know who the additional blonde back-up singer is during 'Before they make me run' (at least that's the only song where I spotted her)?

Ronnie is fantastic on Some Girls. When all the Keith-licks turned a bit stale, he's there like a whirlwind. Great stuff! thumbs up

They have missed Blondie since they stopped using him. He added a certain attitude as well as his filling guitar parts.

Very much overlooked.
And a helluva guy to hang out and drink with.

The Japanese version would have been perfect if it had also included Thief In The Night and You Don't Have To Mean It from 20th April. Missed opportunity . . .

Listening to the audio thru Honky Tonk. The refrains on YGMR and Respectable are a little too long making Mick sound uncommitted. Lots of decent SBD's came out from Spring '99, looking forward to the DVD this weekend

Do you know why he was there ? Because Keith wanted him there . Mick had Bernard and Lisa and Keith had Blondie .

I love this release though not perfect. Maybe Ronnie wasn't in very good condition in these days. Anyhow Mick, Charlie and Keef are ripping it up. My God I forgot how fast they used to be. Very simple stage but effective. Finally I get a good view of it since I wasn't there.
