As long as their are suckers with too much money to spend, there will be a North American tour.

I recall back in 2016, those "in the know" were sure they would play NYC and more after the Desert/Vegas gigs. It was all but a done deal. Then . . . . nothing happened . . . . except for the private gig in Foxboro, Mass.

Well the cancellation happened. Those in the know who knew didn't actually know
what they couldn't have known, did seem to know, or at least surely gave an indication that they knew.
The only reason I know this, is because I am in the know. But you know, if you let people know you know; they think you're not really knowledgeble because people who do know, will never say they know, because they know they'll be cut off from knowing anything if they say they know; especially if they really do, like me. So I'm not saying.
It's just too much responsibilty, I'm sorry but I have to respectfully decline
sharing the NE tour and new album news.
ok, the meets and greets will have a special oxygenated tent; but that's the only tip I'm coming up with for now.
Yes it's for health reasons and yes there's an extra charge if you breathe too much.
Just saying that much is risky, trust me.

I don't see any sign of the Stones not touring. They are going strong. I don't understand why people are writing them off. I'm looking forward to the next USA tour and the ones after.

Aside from the fact they've had no new album of originals since 2005, and their recent mini-tours consist of 14 shows max (give or take), I suppose you could say they're still going strong.
After all, they're an average age of 75 years old - most old folks that age are long retired and wearing slippers around the house trying to keep their mind intact. If they're well enough they'll return, but the main problem will be the overpriced tickets. Remember, they had difficulty selling out two arena shows in *Vegas '16 which were the only two shows aside from Desert Trip. They eventually resorted to price drops in entire sections for both shows, and even then couldn't fully sell them out. There were even rumours the first show was cancelled due to slow sales which I doubt, but the thought did make you wonder. And after the cancellation for show #1, there were still tickets available at the box office and ticketmaster for show #2. Some claim it finally "sold out" at the last hour, but that is debatable. Secondary markets crashed practically giving tickets away the day before and the day of the show which benefited those like myself who were holding out and on the fence. So yes, they will more than likely return depending on health, etc., but they really need to take a closer look at their outrageous pricing strategy - you can only rob people so many times.

I'm with you.
Think it was bv who stated they would likely be doing a "limited city" NA tour, perhaps four or five cities.
I'm betting on it happening as early as this fall.

Despite the naysayers going on and on about their ages and their last concert prices etc (with friends like these..) as they've been doing for decades, their last US show was a sellout despite Mick's illness and the uncertainty of it going on at all. Of course, everyones entitled to opinions (mine is that it was one of the best sounding shows I've been to, the guitars were downright raunchy and the whole band/crowd rallying around Mick was fantastic). Fortunately there are facts to back up the sellout and I saw no more price drops than usual for the gig.. always are. Amazing what a mark the higher than usual prices (on the upper end)for the show left on some though.

Didn't Mick mention during the HBO show in '03 that this wasn't the last time the Stones would play in the then called Madison Square Garden? If my count is correct, the next time they play at that address in the City is No. 25.

Might be misunderstanding your post (?), but it's still called Madison Square Garden, and the Stones played there in 2006 and 2012.

I thought the name of the venue was changed.

There was an HBO show the week of 18 Jan 2003 and I can't remember when Mick made the comment. Here is a link from one of the shows: [www.youtube.com]

As far as No. 25, I don't know where I got the number from and maybe someone should verify.

Thanks Hairball.

Charlie is quoted in Bill Wyman's book as saying that when he joined the band he committed himself to doing whatever is required, so he goes along with the band's decisions like it or not. His loyalty to the band wont stop a tour. He especially hated going up in the Blimp presser in NY but he did it anyway. He's a trooper.

Charlie is a trooper?

I find that hard to believe.

I have family and friends who work on the strip in Vegas and have gone to visit and see the Stones at the mgm a few times.
I didn’t go to the t-mobile show because I quit going to see them live after the zip code tour but from what they tell me there was absolutely no buzz in town for these concerts.
Before it was “The Stones are in town!!”with people swapping stories about seeing the band around town and the usual excitement.
This time every casino host in town had fistfuls of tickets and were handing them out to even mid level players.
The Stones had just done desert trip where they were just good and didn’t stand out much from the other classic bands then embarrassed themselves by playing a trucking convention, this is what stand up comedians do not a group billing themselves as the live gold standard.tickets for $450 and $750 got people rolling their eyes.
Then before they left they played a birthday party for a good friend of the president.they may want to stick to a couple of shows in the major markets because I’ve got a feeling the states aren’t the cash cow they once were.

Just a thought - It would be something if a 2019 US tour were billed as their last, as it would the 50th anniversary of the legendary 1969 tour. I don't think the Stones would want to bill it that way though.

Of course he's not going to tell you that! The Stones will continue until they can't any more. If they all still feel up to it, I wouldn't be surprised if there was be a 60th Anniversary Mini Tour in 2022, similar to the 2012 one.

They are pensioners and It keeps them active and alert, Why wouldn't they? 1 14 date tour a year and the planning of it is a nice little project gives them the rest of the year to enjoy holidays ans time with their families.

The fact he said yes to me means he has a clue and could give a hint so that some of us that only get a given amount of vacation days each year are able make plans and save them for the STONES!

The talk about demand for Vegas '16 seems pretty meaningless. There were shows in '94, like Indianapolis, that hardly anyone showed up for. These things happen and don't really say much about how viable they are.

Vegas is a destination city for concerts, it really doesn't count. Not to mention that a zillion people had just traveled to the desert the previous two weekends for Desert Trip.

I could imagine the Stones could setup in a few major cities and have a dozen or more concerts and not have to do as much traveling.

New York City could have shows go on for months and they'd all sell out. I remember being at Madison Square Garden in 1998 and realizing there were many people there from around the word. I remember many did not speak English. New York City is an international destination that is easy and most inexpensive to get to as compared to other major cities because many flights go there.

Madison Square Garden is the ultimate Rolling Stones venue. I think the last time they were there was 2005.
