I used to buy loads of secondhand/used vinyl at swap meets and thrift stores for $1 each back when vinyl was supposedly getting phased out. Can't recall the last one I bought, but it might have been either German beer hall polka music or bagpipe music from Scotland - the neighbors loved that stuff at full volume.
Just picked up the first album from a trio called the Messthetics. I was in a recors store (remember them!) and this cool guitar band was being played: I asked who it was, at the counter and bought the record. The Messthetics are an instrumental trio: Guitarist Anthony Pirog who is a really dynamic jazz/rock player with a rhythm section of Brendan Canty and Joe Lally who were both in Fugazi a few years back. The LP also came with a download code which I think is a cool idea - less bands are doing that now.
Forgot to mention new record, and that would be the 7" vinyl single of Hendrix's Lover Man b/w Foxey Lady live. The last cd I bought would be the 2 CD set "A Cellarful Of Motown Vol. 4 - Various Artists" filled with rarities - cost me only $5.11 and a few extra dollars to have it shipped to California all the way from England! Already have volumes 1-3 and all were around the same price. Good stuff.
Rockman..I wasn't expecting anything mainstream from ya far from it.. but mate where do ya find this stuff I listened to the first track yea I could sit out one of their gigs
I bought on Record Store Day last saterday the "Enter the Dragon" picture disc, the Rolling Stones "Satanic Request" LP, "Sucker Punch" soundtrack LP and also found Ron Wood "Gimme some neck" LP.
