Liam Gallagher does nothing for me either, (Noel would've been different), but he's sold out Finsbury Park as a headliner so is a pretty big name for a support act. Agree with Adrian-L that it looks like they're pulling out all the stops to get ticket sales moving.

That's because the Stones have been booking cheesy obscure opening acts. Some decent ones but mostly safe bands that have no appeal to a Stones crowd.

In regard to Ashcroft sampling the Stones, it should be remembered that it is the Andrew Loog Oldham Orchestra rendition of The Last Time; a recording that - I would imagine - Jagger and Richards had noinvolvement with.

Pleased with these. As others have noted with the possible exception of the vaccines these are all arena headliners if not stadiums. Liam has sold out old Trafford cricket ground this summer (50k) Florence is a regular arena/festival headliner and Ashcroft sold out a couple of nights at the o2 lately. Canny move from the promoters rather than adding, say, Jeff beck who would appeal to a similar demographic as the headliners. I’m personally pretty pleased my three gigs will include Liam, the specials and Ashcroft.

The better the ticketsales, the lesser prestigious is the opening act.
Remember 2003. There were so many german shows booked that ACDC came in to help selling out some of them.
