OT: Jimi Hendrix's London record collection

Came across this. There's a mention of Brian Jones turning Hendrix onto world beat music. Was "world beat" music even a term/thing back then and how much was Brian into it? As I scrolled through the list of records I was amazed at how many of them I have in my - what I guess I'd call now - vintage vinyl collection. Guess we all listened to much of the same popular music back then.

London Records called it their International division then. I don't know that the term "World Music" was even in vogue in 1969. I don't recall hearing the term "World Beat" until the rise of Shanachie Records in the late 1970's. They released mostly Reggae, Celtic and African recordings.

Actually the very well respected Nonesuch Records (which is still around today) started releasing 'World Music' from the mid 60's.
Tis a pity perhaps that the Brian Jones Pipes album wasn't given to them to handle. It might have got more support than it did from RSR.
