Its just total bullshit, all these stories about Jagger using coke on the 81/82 tour. They really were way too professional by then. Coke kills your voice, its totally unbelievable Jagger would spend two hours warming up only to kill his voice with a line of coke before he goes on to entertain 90,000 people.

Did you hear Mick's voice on that tour, his voice was completely shot by coke

I think he never sang better than on the 1981 tour.

Watch Mick late 78' live in Texas and tell me he wasn't on drugs.
Seen it many times and I don't think he was. I feel like the drug thing starts to become a way to take the wind of his sails. Like he wouldn't be like that if not for the drugs. Sure there were times he was high , but not all the time and he didn't need to be to have all that energy on stage. Is it that hard to be lieve that it's just how good of a performer he is? People do this with other artists too. The attribute the passion and and energy they exude to "they must be on coke".
As I said, after watching the Stones live in Dallas Texas 78' and most people will agree he's on something. Not a great performance and Mick even laughs at it himself saying he looks like he had attention deficit disorder or something. He looks wrong, manic, strange, not himself.
We will have to agree to differ on this one

Can I just put the record straight, I love all Mick's performances , coked up, straight barking voice, trained voice, pretending to be stoned or acting Punk. It's all good to me, I am a real fan of this band, for ryanpow or anyone else to suggest a poster is not a real fan because they don't agree with them is making the experience on iorr a regrettable one.

I suggested nothing of the sort. What I meant was, if you were to ask the "average person on the street", Not people like us who are Stones Fanatics, they'd probably think Mick was on drugs. I just assume anyone who spends time reading and posting on here is a real fan weather I agree with them or not.

Of course, Mick said on «60 Minutes» that he wasn't drug free before 1995.
What I was discussing, though, was the 1981/82-tour. It was obvious that Mick had taken singing lessons, because this is the first tour where he uses his stomach for proper technical singing.
We can see how he prepared for the shows in the Detroit 1981-video I posted earlier in this thread. It then becomes apparent that this tour was something entirely different to that of, say, the 1975-tour.
Mick is preparing for the show like an athlete. You don't spend hours preparing physically for the show, just to put your head in the coke bowl the minute after.
So, to conclude: 1972-75 was a great party - 1981/82 was mostly work and preparations for Mick. That doesn't mean that he didn't bend the «rules» a little here and there, though

Yes, ironic coming from the joint composer OF 'Mothers Little Helper' with its sardonic lyrics about older people and drugs.
