I have not listened to beyond the first line of
‘Let It Loose’
I had to shut it down.
Blasphemy.

P.S.
I am not trying to be mean, it is an honest assessment from a deep connoisseur over decades of Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones.

I understand there is (maybe?) a market for these things/Bruce Springsteen on Broadway/ others acting in place of a musical artist.

Doesn’t work for me with The RS.

I guess chuck Berry fans have the same feeling about covers by the Stones
anyway , it's no hanging matter ....hot smiley

AND, (LOL)

I admire and understand completely the joy musicians get out of playing these songs,
and I said that on my ‘CYHMK’ review here earlier.

So in case Ryan’s reading (Ha Ha) please don’t take my negative review personally,
Goodnight.

Understand your point and agree.
Springsteen on Broadway is actually, Bruce Springsteen on Broadway, though cool smiley

Thought he sounded great and glad he didn't try to copy note for note like others have. I thought his version of Happy was pretty cool.

I liked what I heard of it. Good on him for thinking outside the box as he often does. Say what you like about him, but hes not afraid to take chances and do surprising things.

I only wish the Stones had the balls to try a show like this.

Some people have wondered what Jagger sings, but I am inclined to go with what the dude who runs The Database at Timeisonourside.com. seems to think. Check his lyrics out:

The Database - Track Talk - Rocks Off

I appreciate what they wrote back in 1972, and yet still enjoyed the interpretations

A lot of the contributions on Ian's site come from us, so sometimes it's hard to tell what's correct.

However, I agree with your interpretation of the Rocks Off-lyrics smiling smiley

Yes, I have learned the complete lead part to ‘Love In Vain’ along with myself singing. It is a highlight of my life as it means so much to me .........BUT

I would be afraid to post it here .... and that is sad

I'm a big fan of Ryan Adams, and great that he took this on. I've listened to most of the gig and at first thought it was pretty average but had a bit of reflection and thought maybe it was never meant to be a replication of what the stones did but rather Adams' take on those songs. If so, then it ranks better. It's a bit hit and miss, some work well, others not so well....certainly not as good as the Phish take on Exile...well for me any way.

Also he didn't try to force the music. Most acts who cover Stones songs feel compelled to make their version harder more energic than the original(s). And that's a big mistake imo.
Part of the magic of the Stones songs is it's very light and subtle. Cover bands often overdo it: the drummer plays too hard, the guitarists overpaly or try to "out Keef" Keef.

At least Adams understood that's not the way to go...
