From Wiki:

“We were as disgusted with the thought of recording it as most people were at the thought of buying it. But at the end of the day, we liked it.”

Probably. It could have been a charming bagatelle if it hadn´t been for the horrendous guitar. I once talked to an engineer who worked on that album (it was recorded in Sweden, at Polar Studios), and he just laughed when I whined about Jimmy Page´s sloppy playing.

How about Cat Stevens ... he had that somewhat listenable song, Time Passages, but then did almost the exact same song with non-listenable lyrics Year Of The Cat ... I used to cringe and smash the radio when that came on.

Agreed. I can't believe he settled with that take.

"The Wheels On The Bus" should never have been written.

But, since it was, those of you who are familiar with the tune, can thank or curse me for the earworm I just planted in your mind later!

Peace,
Mr DJA

Yes, absolutely. I also thought of listing this god-awful, ear-splitting bit of garbage.

At the risk of being kicked off this site... Anything that John Mayer has ever put out.

I agree with the previous comments about U2 as well. Anything that they have ever released as well.

Haha Hound Dog, I got yelled at for saying I am not a fan of John Mayer as well. Didn't even say anything nasty. Only other time I had a post deleted on here was when I said something about @#$%& on here one time.

You are NOT allowed to say anything negative about John Mayor I guess.

"During the recording session in Bono’s hotel room, Wood ended up using Richard’s pocket knife as a slide when playing his guitar". Silver and Gold

Nice guitars, but the vocals are a bit grating on the ears imo- would have been a nice instrumental jam.
(Not a fan of the Rattle and Hum version either).

There was also that awful REO song (I am almost sure it was them) "heard it from a friend who ... heard it from a friend ..." I've smashed a few radios over that one too.

Yes - that was absolutely horrendous!
After a couple decent '70's rock songs(Roll with the Changes, Ridin' the Storm Out) they turned into a fairy tale Tinkerbell band writing sappy love songs.
Has there ever been another band that had such a drastic change in direction for the worse?

YES! That & Freeze Frame were on MTV continuously back then and both irritating to my ears!

Although I remember they started playing a Peter Wolf song, I Need You Tonight which I liked a lot, it has a cool twangy guitar sound with a catchy synth.

I actually kinda like that song. But I do remember when it was released that I commented to some friends at school that Page's solo was a bit... odd. Oh, the looks I got! That was back in the day where one never dissed Jimmy Page... ever!

I also liked that Peter Wolf song but I cringe when they play Centerfold or Freeze Frame now on the radio... and to think that it's the same band that did "Lookin' for a Love"

Auntie Grizelda by The Monkees. Oh, wait, they didn't write it....They didn't write much of anything.

How about "You Know My Name, Look Up My Number" by The Beatles.
