Queen 1985 - Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland, New Zealand - The Works Tour - 14yrs old My parents wouldn't let me go with my Swim Team of which i was the youngest by 3 yrs, They mention that they regret it, after Freddies passing i was so mad i couldn't play their music for a while.

George Michael in Sydney 2009 - I just thought he'd be back

Prince and Piano - ASB Theatre at The Sky City Casino 24.2.2016 - His first and only time in New Zealand. played two nights. I thought it was a warm up for a bigger tour, he is so revered in NZ he could have played every venue in the country and it wouldn't have been enough for the fans. F'n Fentanyl rubbish

Tom Petty and Bob Dylan - Feb 6, 1986 - Mt Smart, True Confessions Tour

Stevie Ray Vaughn - Feb 86 - Again parents wouldn't let me go with my rowdy friends, by the end of the year i stopped asking and just went to whatever i wanted with my own money from my part time jobs, Stevie married a Kiwi girl, his widow and had a strong relationship with a number of NZ musos, notably Midge Marsden a local bluesman, they collaborated on a song called "Travelling On" for a Petrol Company (Europa, long gone from the scene), a great ad, I cranked it up everytime it came on the TV.

Johnny Cash - Johnny and June came nearly every two years, you just thought oh i see them next time.....

Joe Strummer - Oh this one makes me sad, i just loved Joe and stupidly thought again, next time....

Frank, Sammy and Liza - in Australia 89, i have the program and memorabilia, acquired many years after the Gig, my Uncle was going to take me as he'd taken my Aunt to see them in Los Angeles the yr before, then he got caught playing away from home and was excommunicated....

Bob Marley 1978 - ok i was 7, but a kid from my class went with his older brothers and came back a changed kid, he went total reggae until he passed tragically in a motorcycle accident in 1990, he was a Maori guy and Bob is revered like a deity in the Maori community, his records are treated as heirlooms by a great number of the tribe. The Wailers have played here extensively since his passing.

Shriekback - back together again, but haven't played in NZ since 1987, please come back.

And a lot more if i'm totally honest, but these are the biggies

Cant really count Elvis, Bob Marley or The Beatles due to age (or in Elvis' case, geography)

Two 'coulda and shoulda' ones that stick out was passing up the opportunity to see Sinatra in Dublin in 1987 on the Main Event tour as I just assumed he was past it. The wife was more of a fan than me, although i grew to appreciate him more later on. As it turned out, everyone I did know who saw the gig said he was fantastic.

The other one was when The Highwaymen (Cash, Jennings, Nelson and Kristofferson) played Belfast around '91 and a guy in work who knew the promoter had some surplus tickets and offered me a couple. Again, whilst I liked Cash and always did, I wasnt a big fan of this sort of music at the time and declined. Never got to see Johnny.

Missing out on Ulster Hall shows by The Clash, Dr Feelgood, The Ramones and The Kinks around 1979-81 were gigs that in retrospect I should have tried to go to. I did see the Clash eventually but it was in 1984 and the Mk II version without Mick Jones.

Sinatra - the three of them were great in Dublin. I remember Sinatra at one point referring to Lansdowne Road as “this theatre”. It actually felt intimate in that way. All due to his performance.

The Highwaymen - like you I passed on the tour when it hit Dublin but I did see them individually either before or after that particular tour.

The Clash, Dr. Feelgood, The Ramones, The Kinks - I got to see them in Dublin. I met Mick Jones in London last Summer walking down Berwick St. I mentioned seeing them in Dublin in 1977. He responded immediately with “Trinity College”. Nice one Mick!

I think the name was "Fish and Chips" lol -highly recommended for some no-frills greatness!

I notice a lot of people have listed Dr Feelgood, i had occasion to hear the band, they played a local Cabaret Club called the Forge in Papakura, Auckland, NZ, Holds maybe 250 at a stretch, we couldn't get in, too young, so we parked a mates ute at the back of the venue and listened through the air vents, they were awesome, and the crowd went nuts for 2+ hours, it was on the back of "See You Later Alligator" which had been a huge hit locally.

So missed.

Regrets--missed out on:

--Sinatra, well, yeah...I thought he was washed up by the late 80s too.
--Stevie Ray Vaughan...didn't know of him (!) until just before it was too late.
--Prince--sold out when I realized I should go to his show after the Rolling Stones
played MGM, Las Vegas.

Glad I saw:

--most recently, Leon Russell, fantastic, front row, in a small auditorium, a few months before he died.
--Johnny Cash, one of his last concerts, in Las Vegas couldn't see him from the back, but his voice was terrific.
--Ike and Tina Turner, with a friend who wanted to go when I was very young, very entertaining.
--Ray Charles, likewise, brilliant.

Having seen Prince before at the infamous L.A. Coliseum 1981 show (and not liking him at all), and then eventually learning to casually appreciate his musicianship and some songs through throughout the '80's forward, I would never consider myself a fan of Prince. That is until I saw him at that small club show in Vegas after the Stones MGM concert thanks to my wife. She was always a fan of his yet had never seen him, so she demanded we get tickets. After the Stones show around midnight, we took a cab over to the Rio and made our way in to the club. Long story short, I was nearly converted in to a diehard Prince fanatic on the spot the second he hit the stage. Wow! Saw him several times after that, at the very small lub Nokia in L.A., followed by a full blown Prince extravaganza at the L.A. Forum a few years later. Still sad he passed away, and my wife still sheds tears.

I regret never seeing Johnny Cash, Ike and Tina, or Ray Charles, but I did see Leon a few times throughout the years dating back to the '70's. His first few albums were embedded in my brain thanks to my older brother. Carnie is still one of my all time favorite albums having listened to it nearly 24/7 for weeks on end as an eight year old when it was first released - Out in the Woods, Magic Mirror, Masquerade, and Manhattan Island Serenade still gives me chills and take me right back whenever I listen to them.

Beatles

Hendrix

With the exeption of these I have seen all I wanted to see (Led Zep, The Who, The Kinks, Ike & Tina, Tina solo, EC, Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac,
BB King, Buddy Guy, Chuck Berry, Rod and The Faces ... you name it) and even many more.

2;

Queen - Friends had tickets in 86 but there were other shows that summer I wanted to see and just couldn't afford all of them so I passed on Queen (as others have wrote about acts they missed, they played every 2 years so I figured they'd be back in 88)

Sinatra - For a few years in the late 80s/early 90s, he played a handful of shows each year in London; I kept passing on them as they were expensive as hell; I really wish I'd gone to one.

Just about everybody else I wish I'd seen I have done...

Coming from Canvey Island and being of a certain age, I was lucky enough to see Dr Feelgood more times than I can remember. Fantastic live band who never really made it as big as they should have.

On their first trip to the US they were supported by The Ramones, what a gig that would have been !!

My biggest regret was not going to see Queen when they played the local community centre (200 capacity)on their first tour 'Seven Sees of Rye'.

2nd biggest regret was going to see Bryan Ferry after years of loving Roxy Music, should have stayed at home he only wanted to play tracks off Bete Noir

In 2002 I took the train from Trondheim to Oslo, and that`s quite a bit, I can tell you, just to see the theater version of the "Saturday Night Fever" movie at Oslo Spectrum. I got very disappointed. It was turned into some family entertainment where busy fathers brought with them their (beautiful) young daughters.

Hairball, thanks for your response.

I love that the Prince show almost turned you into a diehard fan. I read he played very well and very long into the night at the club show.

Mozart's 1790 summer Central Europe tour. He played all new stuff.

More recently, I regret not seeing Bob Marley at MSG in June 1978 after I got back from the afternoon Stones concert in Philly and drove past MSG while dropping off my friend and saying "we should go" and we should have. The same night Ron Guidry struck out 18 angels.

Alright, I don’t have a regret, but this didn’t feel good.
I just went to
IORR Concert Reviews
Years 2012-2013
I was looking for which particular opening show Mick wore the checkered hat/coat that L’Wren designed I remember seeing that clip of her tailoring/ the clothing
I thought it was Hyde Park, really, I don’t care anymore
because all those SMALL shows and arenas played close and easy!
Sad face for me I missed it
you guys had it good ya?

I went to Dead Kennedys show at Whisky a Go Go in Sid Vicious t-shirt and beach sandals.
It was utter chaos.

Members of Guns N' Roses during their junior high school years might have been there.grinning smiley
