At 2:57 Charlie states: "I don't like the songs" when discussing the new songs that were being recorded. Interesting

Hi Miandefender, I hear it as

"I dont write the songs " :-)

Why do people have it in their heads that Charlie suffers from back problems?

We only have Woody's word for it, something he said to a journalist during a rehearsal period a couple years ago.

Anything Ron Wood says should be taken with a gram of salt.

Of course Charlie wouldn't mind if the Stones were to stop -- it doesn't mean the same to him as it does to, say, Keith, for whom it's a way of life. To Charlie, it's just a job.

An interview with Charlie is always good for a laugh -- the Peter Cushing of rock and roll!

Charlie has a back problem not because anything anyone said. You can see from the interview. Anyone who has suffered can identify with it

Nice video Hopkins: Martin Scorcese knows music and "All down the line" is a drummer's dream of a song. The camera ,directed by Scorcese I suppose, shows the drumming compositions, the astonishing sense of rhythm and the wizardry wit of Watts which is in contrast with Charlie's very straight forward and composed physical performance(No Keith Moon's antics there). Charlie is amazing here. By the way that was one of the qualities of that movie, that Scorcese showed the point of view of the musician. Great movie.
Rockandroll,
Mops

but I do think (because I see it in myself)
restless energy inside, moves about when speaking.
And probably nobody likes these guys when they come off the road (Shirley)

I've already apologized that Charlie may have said "write". I listened several times before posting, sorry for the misinterpretation thumbs down

Why do people have it in their heads that Charlie suffers from back problems?

He seems rather uncomfortable in that chair, streching, trying to find an easy position.

Hi Miandefender, I hear it as

Actually, Charlie HAS written songs.
He was a member of the Nanker Phelge songwriting partnership (1963/6).

Yes, it's true -- even a rock star/music icon can be just a dad.

No doubt he found his toy train sets more fun than dad's friends.

You once punched Mick Jagger for calling you ‘his drummer’…

“I was drunk. It was in Amsterdam, because there was a canal nearby.”
Did he ever do it again?

“I don’t think so. I actually said you’re my singer. But I was drunk, actually.”

So this is not an urban myth after all...

Don't really agree with the comment: 'It would be a nightmare to get another bass guitarist.
But Charlie most certainly could NOT be replaced.
