I saw 6 shows - Dublin, London 1, Southampton, Coventry, Edinburgh, Cardiff.

A really tough call because they were all great....but I will try to rank them:

1. Cardiff - because of the sheer intensity

2. Edinburgh - perhaps the tightest show?

3. London 1 - the best setlist and a fantastic performance

4. Coventry - a sensational show

5. Southampton - another great show in a brilliant smaller venue

6. Dublin - loved this show and another great setlist.

To be honest, all shows were consistently great and I loved them all so I can't really rank them. I wish I could do it all again!

Having seen only 2 in the UK, my ranking is easy to make: ...

1. Cardiff
...
2. Edinburgh

If I'd do a "NO FILTER" ranking (2017-2018), I'd say:

1. Amsterdam
2. Paris #3
3. Paris #1
4. Cardiff
5. Arnhem
6. Hamburg
7. Edinburgh
8. Lucca

Marseille (the last of 3 this year for me) is up next -
hope that one will be at least a serious contender for that n° 1.-spot... smoking smiley

Amsterdam was just amazing!smileys with beer

Edinburgh (don't know why, but I didn't click with this show the way others seem to have).

+1

Was a solid show, but as I was mentioning to RoughJustice in Cardiff, the band seemed to be labouring a bit for this one. The crowd was great, but you could sense the band really had to push to get through it.
The moments for me (besides the amazing city, people and solid show) that immediately put this show high on my favorite list, was She's a Rainbow and Mick and Keith sharing the mic for a moment..

Of the four shows I was fortunate to be able to attend- Manchester, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Twick, I'd have to probably give the title to Cardiff.
Just an all around stunning show, venue, city and crowd.

If we're judging by favorite as opposed to "best" it would be even tougher as they all had such unique fantastic moments.
I'll never forget Manchester as I landed for my first ever visit and show in the UK, and was greeted with a PIT-B ticket for my Lucky Dip..
Show was fantastic as was the whole experience.

Twickenham would win my "favorite" category as it was the culmination of a nearly life-long desire to see the band in London.
All the history in the area was amazing to see and learn about as I was able to stay my final four days there, visiting the Eel Pie museum, and all the other historical stones sights in the area. And the show itself was amazing!!
Met some really great fans, had great experiences, and started show day getting a British flag Rolling Stones tatt, that I rationalized I had now finally earned cool smiley from a shop near Eel Pie Island and where it all started..

They were all the same. To rank them would only be arbitrary and subjective.

It might be interesting to rank them by individual song, eg which show did you think had the best 'Midnight Rambler', and so on.

Ok here goes,

I would say the best Street Fighting Man was CArdiff

Best JJF was Cardiff as well (even with the fluffed intro).

Best Under My Thumb was Edinburgh

Best Tumbling Dice was Dublin (best Ronnie solo)

Best Midnight Rambler was Edinburgh

I thought Happy at Edinburgh really rocked and was hoping it would be played at Cardiff.

Brown Sugar 2018

Resantly I've been listening to some of the recordings of the latest tour and it struck how good BS is sounding. It's slower and the guy (forgot the name)on sax is heading for a new aproach on the solo. I really like the kind of laid back but swinging atitude! Also I must say that Keef seems to be more focusing on playing compared with the latest 20 years. Ronnie too seems to have more of a blues aproach after he teamed up with Taylor some years back. Over all, the song seems to have gained some more autensity/freshnes and it really looks like their enjoing it. Any thoughts..?

Judging by youtube videos I think Brown Sugar from Coventry was enjoyable: video: [www.youtube.com], great energy even though the tempo is not blazing fast.

I definitely prefer the 2017-2018 versions of Brown Sugar to many of the sloppy and unfocused ABB-tour versions.

Yeah, I made the comment after attending the Paris 3 show that BS and MY had become sort of swampy/funky with the Karl Denson sax riffing providing a new dimension. I still miss Bobby but no complaints about his replacement.

Look at that all you naysayers ! The Stones are like the 9th wonder of the world .Still rolling and still Rocking and still getting it done like they invented it . That's right .Yes it has a tiny bit slower tempo ,but Keith and Ronnie are HITTING the right notes and Bless his heart Mick is singing his heart and soul out and I love how Karl Denson has interpreted the iconic sax solo and without Charlie Watts keeping time behind those skins there is no Stones to roll . Great job smoking smiley

All the warhorses sound revitalized this time round, that's the major difference between this tour and the previous recent ones IMHO.

What it's funny that we never hear anyone here say that this or that warhorse version was average. NO. Read the reviews...
It's always later after the Tour, never in the moment.
Conclusion : the present version is always better than the previous one...
After all, it reassures, and that's all that matters.
Better and better, always.

Not really, my reviews are all posted on this website and the subpar renditions have always been duly covered. What I wrote is my genuine account, sorry if you don't agree but there's not a lot I can do about it!

I think Brown Sugar sounds the best out of all the warhorses nowadays. For some reason they all seem to really be on the ball for this one.

Maybe you're right after Richards was injured in the fall out of the tree in 2006 but,the 2005 press conference "Brown Sugar" was one of the best since the '70's for my money.

No Filter Merch?
Posted by: JN99 ()
Date: June 22, 2018 22:42

I picked up the small merch catalog in Edinburgh then decided it would be easier to just go online so dumped it. However, I cannot find most of what was in the catalog online confused smiley Now I wish I'd kept the catalog. Is there a site where all of that is listed or is it strictly order from/through the catalog? I didn't look closely to how one would go about actually ordering from the catalog so have no idea now.

A bit of a long shot, but I bought a number of shirts at the Twickenham show on Tuesday and found once I was back home that one was damaged with a hole in the back (unworn), is there a contact email to see if a replacement can be obtained?

Saw only one show which rocked. As that is all I could afford, the UK is too high priced. I always examine the shirts before buying as u never know.
