Technically, this isn’t Stones-related... I visited Chester during a break from the tour and saw this window in Chester Cathedral. I think I found the inspiration for A Bigger Bang! (OK, everything is Stones related!) grinning smiley

Don't bring guns. Don't bring hand granades. Don't bring your killer dogs or your chainsaw.

I was debating about my chainsaw - better leave it at home and not take it to Twickenham! smiling smiley

Leave the gun; take the cannoli

Manchester now only one section available, Middle tier, single seats only. Seems sold out. Wonder how my lucky dip will turn out?

I have had one nosebleed seat in Dublin and London GC. Had a fantastic time on both occasions. Feel so lucky that I have been able to see my favourite band for 40 years now. Just getting ready for Coventry and still as exciting each time whatever ticket I get smileys with beer

Been on a self imposed stones tour info blackout since right before the Dublin opener.
So far so good, no clue about opening songs/setlists etc... Figure I'll catch up on all the news after my first show.

Really looking forward to Manchester, sold my extra GA on stubhub (for above face in about two hours!) and now am relying solely on my single LD. Hopeful the extra space in the Pit translates into making it a true Lucky dip.. Two days till departure- all packed and ready to go! Can't wait!!

I did the same last year before watching a Who concert and it was a very wise decision. Enjoy the concert in Manchester. You're in for a treat! smileys with beer

This tour seems to be shaping up as possibly one of their best for decades. I have now been to 3 shows with 3 more to come. in Amsterdam last September I thought it was getting a bit stale with the same old songs etc being played. This time they are taking real chances with ever changing opening songs and set lists (3 new songs last night).Mick seems to be 'on fire' each show. The sound is so tight and I love the laid back stage and back drop / screens. The only criticism has been mentioned before is Sashas mic during gimme shelter. I didn't notice it in the pit at Southampton but from the rear of the ricoh last night I couldn't hear her at all...shame.

Agree, more or less what I just said on the cov thread, about Amsterdam.

Shows from this tour definitely deserve a live album & Blue Ray.

What's the availability been like for the t shirts on the merchandise stands? Last year in Dusseldorf there were hardly any left (admittedly we got in only about half an hour before the band came on stage).

Are they selling them on a stand outside the stadiums as well or only inside? Thanks.

Ha ha MrDDDDD I'm doing the same as you , ahead of the Twickenham show. I feel I'm missing out on the fun of scoping etc, but I think it'll be worth it for some freshness and surprises (?) on the 19th June...

Coventry merch stands were outside the ground only, I think, except for one small stand on the pitch. They had sold out of event T-shirts by 7pm.

Ha, well yeah it would be nice to see them taking some real chances - maybe playing something new that has never been released. Or even a different blues cover from the one or two they've played from Blue and Lonesome. Or...something from their latter day catalogue (post Tattoo You) other than Keith's Slipping Away and the Worst. But whatever, seems they're stuck in the rut and people seem to enjoy it still.
But the fact that they're still alive and kicking and actually still performing live is reason enough to rejoice, and that alone is reason enough to give them praise imo.
And at this very late stage of their careers, as long as they keep on rolling I've come to realize it's kind of hard to criticize as they're still making many people happy.
It's somewhat of a miracle considering all they've been through, though it would be nice to see them taking some real chances.

Ps But it is always fun following the complaints too

Doors open and merch booth

In the last shows, at what time the doors went open for public? And at what time do the merch booths start selling their stuff?
I ask because I want to take the time to buy some shirts but I also want to enter the field as early as possible to get a good spot.
Thanks!

At the Stones concert in Macau a few years back it was pretty tense. The only merch booth was inside the venue, so first you needed to go through the casino and then the security check, then you entered arena and what a sight it was! 100's of people waiting in line at the merch booth. I stood in line for an hour when people started to scream as the concert was about to start. The most inexperienced sellers behind the booth... It was insane how slow they were! To serve one person it took 'em 10 minutes. I did miss the first few notes of Keef's axe... Bummer...

Just be there early! Look around! Get ready to smuggle in your camera, microphone, beer and what not. Meet Stonesheads. Chat away the time. Ask for phone numbers from ladies with tattoos... And pray that they will play Street Fighting Men.

Yeah thanks frenki09... awful experience. But... not really an answer to my questions winking smiley
I'm looking for the time schedule here. Is the merch booth open around 3 or 4 o'clock and is it accessible before doors open to the venue? Or do you have to be in the venue and are the t-shirt sellers inside (just like in Macau)?

Re: Doors open and merch booth

In Munich last year march booths were inside and outside and they opened at around 4 to 5pm along with access ti the venue.
In Dublin this year there were only merchants booths within the venue and they were open once the doors opened at 5pm

btw, in Dublin, best time to but was during the concert when taking a pe break or going to get a drink, as they had stands all over the venue in GA; but also up on the tiers.
