Maybe not a major act, but this one is interesting: Emitt Rhodes

[en.wikipedia.org]

43 years between studio albums.

One would think that a working songwriting 'act' would just naturally accumulate a a few decent songs every few years or so;
tho with the biggest hitmakers
who can afford to be out of that grind and have aready had several dozens
of written tracks established as hits or favorites...
...well, imo, once they just stop altogether coming up with originals,
at least semi-regularly...
...then they've 'literally' moved on from that part of their careers;
( the heralded few who have had strong lengths of times at the top
with tremendous sales already).
They have entire evergreen catalogs, like The Stones and a very few others,
that they promote each and every gig in a way.

If you discount the 2004 Honkin With Bobbo cover album Aerosmith went from 2001 Just Push Play until 2012 Music From Another Dimension

ELP went from 1978 to 1992

Steely Dan went 20 years

Cat Stevens 1968 - 2006

Eagles 1979-2007

Dick Dale 1964-1993

New York Doll 1974-2006

The Stooges 1967-2007

a few of these shoudn't really count as the bands were broken up so they couldn't create new material.

More Hot Rocks
19 Years. In 1999 The Moody Blues released "Strange Times"

Strange Times was 8 years after Keys to the Kingdom.

Between 1978 and 1991, the Moodies released an album every 2 or 3 years.

There's been nothing since 2003.

yes sorry my mistake
