Rhythm Kings gigging without Bill

One gig so far but read the description "previously featuring Bill Wyman".

It don't seem right to me somehow without Bill

They were also previously known as "Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings".

Wyman has had health issues recently -- then again, he will also be turning 82 this year.

His own website on the subject only goes up to July 2016: [billwyman.com]

The "Live" section still has: "Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings could be touring near you! Check below for the latest tour dates for Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings gigs and special events, as well as a guide to recent concerts", but alas: "Upcoming Dates There are no dates yet.": [billwyman.com]

The News section just has a "track of the Week: feature, with the latest highlighting one by his "replacement" in the Rhythm Kings, Beverly Skeete: [billwyman.com]

So, he's made no announcement. Have they gigged without him in the past?

This must be a use of the word "replacement" with which I am unfamiliar. I have been to several RK gigs, and she's sung at all of them. Indeed I've had conversations with her at at least two.

Not as far as I know....

The Concert Poster doesn't make sense...it implies the bass player has been replaced by a singer!
Let's hope there is a correction or clarification soon.

A bit confusing and worrisome - hope all is well with Bill.

It would be interesting to hear from anyone who has bought a ticket on how it goes on the night.....

The Rhythm Kings have done gigs without Bill before.

Beverley is a fantastic singer. She has worked with some of the big names in the business. I have watched her on solo gigs as well, I would attend if I were you.
Check out the box My King and Queen and you know why.

The band also features some fabulous fellow RKs, such as Bill’s best mate Terry Taylor on guitar, Nick Payne on saxophone and the one and only Geraint Watkins.

But have they used "previously featuring Bill Wyman" before, when promoting their gigs?

He had cancer. Recovery to full strength, if it happens, can take considerable time. Especially when you're 81! Maybe he's just retiring from the road for good. Hopefully he'll make a comeback.

He most definitely got the "All Clear" a while back, but that's not the same as full recovery....

I am with you.
I am glad that in a way Bill Wyman was vindicated after he left. It became plain to see how much he had brought to their sound; all along.
And he has shown himself as a true Rolling Stone. Maybe even more than Keith. Bill did not stop for one second. he put a band together, constant albums, constant touring. He stayed true to the essence of the Stones. He never talked sh*t. (well a little..); did artwork; put out books; kept on marrying.

Bill is a Rolling Stones. I miss him in the band because he is irreplaceable.

Sorry Darryl, you are great and we are lucky to have you in the band but Bill sounds better, he had a better groove and fitted better. Probably that Bill’s bass was high in the mix, while Darryl is less in the mix (being not a Rolling Stones).

Anyway, I hope that Bill is fine and recovers from his health issues.

Just searched for Beverley Skeete on amazon, this topic reminded me of what a good voice she has.

Really surprised how much her cds and vinyl cost.

While we're still wondering about the reports of the RK's gigging without Bill, let's turn our attention to this...

It's a genuine (yes, I've confirmed it) new release from The Rhythm Kings and (most unusually) it's been described to me as being .... "f*cking good'

^^^ So this is the "Tattoo You" of the Rhythm Kings. Still, though, no new action from the studio and nothing live in terms of musical activity related to Bill Wyman.

Perhaps he won't make such an announcement, of retirement, and will just continue on being the archivist he's always been.

Mix, schmix, turn Darryl all the way up. He simply doesn't play notes that advance the Stones sound, or affect in any way special. Not when you're supposedly in the Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World!!!!!!!!!
