NBC should get a gold medal for the sheer number of commercial interruptions. It's awful...so many! I don't recall it being this bad in previous Olympic coverage the past years. Other than that, I really love watching the Olympics especially the figure skating and snowboarding! I go into withdrawal when the Olympics end. Feel sort of sad.

Canadian ice dancers Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir decided to start their short routine with a samba....using Sympathy For The Devil. So damn proud. Sitting in first place too.
I saw that on Patti's Instagram! Love it!

I often hear this complain from the states when The Olympics is on. But isn't that a price to pay for commercial tv? It's a bit strange to hear this complaint from a country where commercialism is a norm.
Regretfully it has become a norm here too. In the old days it was broadcasted on public service tv. Now we have to settle with stupid ads too. And lower journalistic quality. But almost everything is broadcasted. Even if you don't pay extra for total coverage.
I'm complaining because it's over-the-top. Nothing strange about that at all. And the complaint comes from me, someone who prefers not to buy into all of this commercialism if possible. Admittedly, it's extremely difficult especially when viewing worldwide events such as the Olympics.

I missed that one. I saw a few others ice dancing to Spanish music. Are you watching CBC?

So far I'm extremely disappointed in NBC's coverage. I feel like I'm missing everything. All I've seen is figure skating, moguls and some snow boarding. The commercials are killing everything. Granted many are Olympic related themes (sponsorship), but the timing is limiting views of replays and athletes etc...In the upstate NY market, everything starts at 8 pm and ends after a few hours.
There are more infomercial channels selling copper pans, makeup, wrinkle cream, and money hungry preachers on more than anything else. Give me a 24-hour Olympic channel for 2 weeks!!!
Well, I live in upstate NY and I know exactly what you mean! Plus, when you're just getting into an event...another commercial...NBC-interruptus!!! It's much worse this year. I know it isn't my imagination. Plus the coverage seems to focus more on our athletes which is to be expected I guess, but I want to watch all of the competitions in their entirety. Maybe that's asking too much. One saving grace is the Primetime On-Demand channel. If you get this, then you can watch the Olympic coverage with fewer commercials. I have the Opening Ceremony on now while I'm working.

Sorry, no offense meant to anyone who enjoys this ice prancing but... thank goodness they finally started showing some real sports, showing these bad ass women snowboarding and trick jumping into 40 MPH winds. Their boards are like wings on planes, they are taking off... It is wild.
Hooray! And I am happy to report that your country woman Laurie Blouin is sitting in 2nd place in Ladies' Slopestyle with 2 riders to go!Quote

As the Canucks just kicked some serious tushie on the ice, I am feeling extra generous and forgive you.

Brutal windy conditions limited the ladies slopestyle to no practice runs
and only 2 real runs that counted... seems like crazy way to run an Olympic event.

Side note--for me here in the US, anyway, the time difference seems to be working out really well, given that all the events I've followed so far seem to be live, and during prime time. Does that mean that the skating was happening in the morning in S. Korea? ( Btw I love Tara Lipinski and Johnny Muir.)
The snowboarding tonight was really awesome, the sort of thing I find it amazing that other humans can do.
