My first Stones concert was the day before the Leeds gig:

Remember Mick complaining early on about monitors that "sound like shit".

He also said "See you next year", but they didn't come back to Ireland until 2003.

Thanks for the snippet. I wonder when he started wearing the "MICK" jacket?

Sure, but not on every gig. He didn't wear it Gothenburg for instance. But now we are doing interim studies...

Sure, but he started wearing it for the euro-tour. Check the 1981(82 thread here. There might be some answers in that one on when he didn't wear it (I don't see him wearing it on pics from the tour opener in Rotterdam, for instance..).

My first Stones show. So many memories.

"See you again someday" was my recollection of his parting comments.

And they did. Eventually.

You are right! I got hold of a recording (seems to be the only one in circulation).

The first show at the Point was worth the 21-year wait.

Theres definitely at least two recordings. One thats widely available on CD and another that a friend of mine recorded one which I circulated around early '84.

I was just starting to collect tapes and it was hard to get to trade anything with other fans as I really didnt have anything - but once I got a low gen copy of that show (albeit in merely so-so quality) as so few people had it my tape collection really took off!

My father & brothers did the security for that show. I was too young to go but my Dad brought mick out on the stage. I have a ticket stub & a guards (police) baton from the show that was left onstage that my da brought me back. Still have them

Stones show in my hometown is a dream for me. Its only been 43 years! Unless theyre playing indoor shows I doubt it'll happen. A park or outdoor space like Boucher Playing Fields are the only realistic outdoor possibilities for a large scale show (Windsor Park and Kings Hall Arena could only accommodate about 20,000 and the redevelopment of Casement Park has been held up for years in red tape whilst the venue is utterly unusable)

I havent heard a whisper about a Belfast show. Looks like this tour is (sadly) going to be stadiums again in front of as many people as possible. The lazy if obvious choice of a big stadium in Dublin is far more likely. They've plenty to choose from.

Think I would come home for that Belfast show
