I agree the Craigslist thing sounds too good to be true. BUT, if they'll do paypal goods and service option, you're protected if its fake. And if its not real, that SHOULD send them running. I guess its not 100%, but I'd say if they agree to that you are relatively in the clear and can dispute the charges later if it turns up to be a trick.

His website has a lot of tour merchandise, not sure if they sell more at the concerts. I was going to get Amex presales for the third Vancouver show when they went on sale but decided against it. I like Elton a lot but don't need to see him three times in four nights.

I was at the show last night at MSG and it was fan-@#$%&-tastic. To my knowledge, he's the last living legend from the 60s and 70s that I'd never seen (for a very long time it was him, Dylan, and Petty, the latter two I crossed off my list within the last two years) and he certainly did not disappoint. What a show he puts on! I knew it was long and I knew he started on time, but I was really shocked at the 2 hour 45 minute show length. And I also thought he had an intermission before Funeral For A Friend, so when he just went right into it I was shocked. Man's 72 and plays and sings his heart out all night. Certainly doesn't hold back, its really admirable to see how much he loves performing, but then it IS Elton John so it shouldn't be a surprise. Band left every now and then (equally as old) but Elton just played and played and played.

Obviously I could quibble about setlist but just that I wish it was 4 hours. He plays everything you NEED to hear as well as some great deep cuts so I can't fault him for anything. He just has too many good songs. Highlights were definitiely the extended jam at the end of Levon which was @#$%& awesome, Indian Sunset which was extraordinary (Ray Cooper killed it), Someone Saved My Life Tonight was beautiful with a fantastic accompanying video I thought (some of the other videos I found a little distracting), the whole ending run and encore was fantastic. Highly recommend the show to everyone. Feels like a fitting farewell. My only complaint would have been the crowd, which seemed REALLY dead. Especially for MSG where he loves. Maybe it was just from where I was sitting, but it never really got to loud crowd levels for most of the night until the very end. I was up in the 200s though. Only other thing I wished even though I knew it wasn't gonna happen was that he'd play Empty Garden. I know he sticks to a very specific setlist, but I wanted to see him at the Garden to hear that song and have a communal cry about John Lennon. But again, show was absolutely phenomenal. He is still the legend he always has been. There's no one like Elton John. Going to a show like his its incredible to remember how many @#$%& hits he has.

Thanks for the review, RollingFreak.

Been debating whether to go or not, your review tips the scale and I am going to make plans to see it.
Probably going to try to catch him in Vegas in early Sept.
Heart is playing a casino there within a couple days of his show, should make a fun end of summer trip for my wife and I cool smiley

Sounds like such a great show at MSG.

So many Elton songs I love to hear, but Bennie and The Jets has always been my all time fave .

Whenever I hear that song it brings back great memories of the 70's here in the U.K. thumbs up

If you see him on his tour, make sure you get there in time because that's his opener.

Nice write up RollingFreak on the MSG show. Saw him in Boston late last year and yes - one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time, maybe of all time. Phenomenal.

Well...fudge...I just looked to see if he's playing Paris this year...he is (20 June) but it's sold out!

Obviously, I'll have to put some sort of effort into making sure I see him!

I saw one person wearing a black Brick Road album cover shirt and that was it.

The usual tables selling shirts - gone. Either I wasn't looking at the right locations or something changed with the way they sell the shirts.

I saw quite a number of shirts on different sites Eltons site doesn't have much.

When I see live clips from him nowadays I become so transfixed by that "hair". Like the very good clip of Miley Cyrus doing "Tiny Dancer" with him; she was fantastic, but I could only stare at his head, LOL

Elton is w/o doubt one of the all-time greats; at the very, very top. Regardless of those abysmal 80's albums. But much like the Stones, I sort of wish I'd be seeing him going NOT-Vegas.

Great review. I have seen Elton over 30 times including a couple at MSG and also wished "Empty Garden" was part of my setlist but I did get "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds". I went to Nashville last year and have good seats for Atlanta this year. I hope he changes the setlist some by then.

What a great year to be an Elton fan with the tour, the new "Lion King" movie, the "Rocket Man" movie and his autobiography coming out in October.

I cannot think of any other artist ever to go out on top like this.

i wish he changed things up a bit. he has so many great 1994-prsent tunes being ignored. also be fun if he did the songs in somewhat chronological order but saved some big hits for the closing and encore

I saw him in Chicago and the show was great. If you like Elton’s music then you will enjoy the show. His band is exceptional and Elton played seemingly nonstop. My 16 year old daughter was even impressed.

Agree. You can tell by interviews that Davey Johnstone is always mentioning the band desire to shake things up with the setlist. It must be so boring for them to do the same songs in the same order night after night. Billy Joel cited that as a reason he stopped touring with EJ.

I love Elton and Billy very much, but Billy shouldn't talk much. He plays the Garden every month, home turf, and plays the same 17ish songs every single time. When he could literally play anything he wants. So until he actually puts his money where his mouth is he should kinda shut up.

Not defending Elton, I also wish he'd switch up the setlist more night to night. He certainly has the material. But he also has a very specific show, that is connected to videos and other stuff. Again, thats not a defense, but he is a Vegas performer. He does a damn good job making it a rock show, but thats just his MO which is "this is my show this tour". Where I do give him credit is he throws a bone every tour. They're largely similar but stuff like Bite Your Lip and many others do occasionally pop out. Its usually once or twice, but just saying he doesn't HAVE to do it at all. So he does mix it up, just not within a tour. Which sucks, cause again I'd love to hear Empty Garden on this tour and there's no reason he CAN'T throw that in for one night. But clearly he wants to do this same set, and honestly thats not much different than most acts his age. I guess you could say the Stones don't but come on, its like 10 different rotating songs a tour and its like 1 a show. Everyone in their 70s is basically playing the same show every night. Tom Petty did as well, which was great but sucked cause he also has a ton of material.

I read somewhere that Elton repeatedly on tour tried to persuade Billy to cut out or reduce his drinking which caused a rift in their relationship.
