I have always though that Mocambo should get the "official" treatment.
I learned from someone who was there at both shows that the 1st night was kind of messy, chaotic. He did say the sound was lousy but attributed that to his personal situation. Actually, he used to say he thought it was because the band was a mess.

What may have seemed chaotic and messy then, might sound wonderful now. I'll take loose and dangerous over polished and repetitive any day when it comes to the Stones.

Especially if Love You Live is any indication.........damn we need this and the sloppy(?) Nicaraguan benefit concert to get released

Bill Wyman’s bass playing somehow holds it down while adding sumptuous notes,
and Keith’s and Ronnie’s weaving has never been more soberly dexterous, pinpointed, fitting in between.

I should know this, I don’t right now-

What other ‘Worried About You’ live versions
does Bill Wyman play?

In answer to my own question, NO, there is no other live version of
‘Worried About You’
with Bill Wyman.
Or Billy Preston!

(copied below)
The song was first performed by the Stones during the two shows at the "El Mocambo Club" in Canada, March 4–5, 1977. It was also played throughout the 2002–03 Licks Tour, with one captured performance being released on the 2004 live album Live Licks. It would again be performed during the 2006 leg of the A Bigger Bang Tour and in 2013 during the 50 & Counting... Tour. During concerts, the keyboard parts are performed by Jagger and Chuck Leavell.

I did not know, I was still under RS water in 2014.
Funny story not really my X husband texted me in 2013 RS coming to Bay Area
you Would have thought it was a penis pic my current husband was soooo mad
Did I make you laugh? True story I did not make it til 2015 with my one and only escort my H.
(it’s only funny in the sense it was the proverbial straw that broke the camels back/ too intimate and my H is a laid back dude/nice guy but he drew a line that day- )

I feel strongly/ have a passion for getting this/ these shows out in RS quality!

My case in point:
‘Crackin’ Up’
has to be the finest happiest Stones feel good tune ever/ top 10
And it is PERFECTLY PLAYED.
‘Love You Live’ track: it’s a beautiful thing. It couldn’t be staged that loud cranky woman yelling ‘C’mon! Sit Down!’ right before it starts.
Now here is El Mocambo dirty utube
[www.youtube.com]
which I really cannot listen to the audio quality is so bad.
So, we know it can be done.
It should be done.

No, I meant WAY. The discussion is somewhere on this forum. Anyway, I think San Antonio must have some big surprise (not just Luxury or Dance Little Sister). If not, why should the taper hide the recordings? That doesn't make sense.

has anyone culled together an "official" bootleg from all the bits and pieces (love you live, Sucking in the 70s and random boots) that comes close to passing for a compete show?

Re: El Mocambo setlists

There are three, four good bootlegs (DAC, SODD, Goldplate) meanwhile which have all different tape variations. But all available material still fits on one CD.

I am still recovering from that
VERY FIRST
‘Worried About You’
with Bill Wyman on bass, Keith and Ronnie weaving it like no-one’s business.
I went deep, like 10-12 times.
Please get the very best RS (Chris Kimsey? He deserves a fat salary/ gig)
and let us have it. I think we can take it.

There was a link of El Mocambo (the topic?) poorly recorded/ bootleg piece
‘Worried About You’
according to the WIKI paragraph I already posted (please don’t complain about legit source, provide your own receipt rather than complain)
It was the first ‘live performance’ of ‘Worried About You’
UNIQUE Bill Wyman on bass, etc etc!
It needs RS sanctioned release clean up!

Guys i'm the moderator who has been maintaining the Stones setlists at setlist.fm for the past ten years. We honestly have no clue what was actually played at the El Mocambo gigs in 1977 or Sir Morgan's Cove in 1981 do we? If anyone actually has solid concrete info as to what was played at these gigs please do share. For all I care all those gigs could read "setlist unknown" on setlist.fm [Edit: Ok we know certain songs that were played due to the live album and bootlegs but we don't know which night they were actually played on]

You should delete such nonsense like the Liverpool 1971 premiere of the song Let It Bleed. Maybe the real Liverpool setlists were presented here in another thread a couple of weeks ago. But still there are no tapes to prove it.

That link provided reveals one thing for sure, possibly a second: the LOVE YOU LIVE Crackin' Up is an overdubbed vocal (no surprise) and, if it's from the same show as the link, it has guitar overdubs as well.

I agree. It's great to view a show that you attended in the past and become amazed at the show you don't remember in detail. I've kept all my stubs from shows since my first concert ever featuring David Bowie back in 1976. I can go there and see the setlist. That's good enough for me...and Bobby McGee.

Thank you for posting MNewman, and also for doing the work over there. It pisses me off when people nonchalantly throw these judgements around "1000's of errors", and "nonsense". For every chart out there, someone has done the work.
When A Babiuk put that Stones Gear book out some years back, I could not believe the aggression over possible errors. Thousands of pages, thousands of photos, grey obscure days that no one was charting or keeping tabs. Years of work. there is such a thing as constructive criticism.

I want to let everyone know that I just updated the 1971 UK Tour. It seems as though someone had simply cut and pasted the same setlist from the Wikipedia page for the entire tour.

Please let me know if you see any other major errors, I try to do my best over there.

Can people upload ticket stub pics of each show, I'd love to see one listed for each show. A lot of times it lists opening acts. That's another thing I wish the site listed for each concert, the opening acts or other acts if the band was the opener or on the bill.
