In all honesty, I'm not far from Mathijs' opinion : DOR had above-average singing capacities but imho she was not a great artist.
She was more of a "one hit" wonder ("Zombie" of course).
The huge media commotion over her passing is - imho again - totally out of proportion with her (rather tiny) legacy in the pop music history.

It is a matter of opinion (as pretty much anything else, of course) - I have never liked Zombie, yet I like Cranberries a lot, I personally think they have a lot of great songs and I really like Dolores' vocals. Pretty much except of Zombie really.

When I was a child I was taught "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. Most of the time this is still good advice". Take a look at album sales in 1994 - I bet The Cranberries sold a lot more albums than our boys - and VL ws released that year! She had a lot of fans - why crap on them.

In the UK I wouldn't say media attention on her death has been huge, merely normal comment on a topic of interest to many people. I imagine a bit heavier coverage in ROI

The Cranberries front woman Dolores O'Riordan died by drowning due to alcohol intoxication, an inquest at Westminster Coroner's Court has heard.

There ought to be warnings in hotel bathrooms: Baths when you're tiny and very drunk may be hazardous to your health.

Baths can hazardous any way. Look at what happened to John Lennon in A Hard Day's Night.
