Abba- Dancing Queen
When it first came out, I hated it and all DISCO...but listening to it now it has some killer vocals on it, no doubt there...silly lyrics, but a nice song all the same.

My favorite Abba song - the great, underrated "S. O. S." - just listen to how the song takes off at the chorus!

2nd place - "Waterloo"

"No Anchovies, Please"

Why should it be a secret if you like some trivial songs? The great thing about music is that you can listen to the sort of music which you are in the mood for. Even the artists I cherish most sometimes go so much on my nerves that I cannot listen to their music. Therefore I am not embarrassed at all to say that I like some real trivial stuff.

Sometimes I can listen to the most bizarre songs and on other occasions I need the most trivial music to listen to. In fact there are CDs which are great one or two times a year but no more. And then there are the hits of my youth which I still appreciate very much (walking down memory lane, of course), like

The free electric band
One way wind (by The Cats, a group from the Netherlands)
Is this the way to Amarillo (great brass on that one)
plus lots of Hawaiian music (is Gabby Pahinui trivial?)

Besides I love Freddy Fender and it's a shame they did not release a real good live album. There is a budget live album which is good but lacks sound quality.

This thread asks about songs that people secretly like. I openly like all of my favourite tunes. It's just that people don't care what I like, so there's absolutely no point in keeping such a secret, so I kind of wonder what would qualify to be listed in this thread:

Maybe 80s vintage keyboard stuff like "You Want Love" by Mixed Emotions or "Looking For Freedom" by David Hasselhoff?
The fact that I like country music isn't unknown amongst my friends, who all tend to have different levels of tolerance toward country music styles. For some, a roots rocker like John Hiatt is already too country, whereas for others it takes Junior Brown or even the wail of Jimmie Dale Gilmore to make them want to turn down the stereo. I try not to scare away people by holding back on hardcore country when necessary, but people know what I listen to.
Then, I like the stuff of some artists who record downtempo electronica, which isn't loved by everybody either. But stuff like "Cook For You" by Howie B is really fascinating. Again, I openly like it.

I guess I'm still trying to find out what's the point of this thread.
