I recently heard the new version of Pretty Woman on Sirious radio with the orchestration added to the original track. It was fantastic. I'll probably pick up this CD.

Nice read. Will look to do some streaming of the tunes but probably won't by the album and definitely will be a no show to the live shows. I saw Roy live just a few months before he passed away. I was working at the concert hall as a stage hand and by dumb luck was in one of the spot light booths for his show. Will never forget him responding to the standing ovation he received at the end of "Oh, Pretty Woman" by playing the song, in it's entirety, a second time. His greatest hits CD and my memories of that show are enough. RIP Roy.

Peace,
Mr DJA

Roy Orbison Hologram Tour Sets North American Dates

‘In Dreams: Roy Orbison in Concert – The Hologram Tour’ sets 28-date trek, Missouri residency
July 10, 2018

Roy

The estate-approved Roy Orbison hologram tour has announced its maiden journey across North America.

Following its debut shows this spring in Europe, In Dreams: Roy Orbison in Concert – The Hologram Tour will begin a 28-date run on October 1st at Oakland, California’s Fox Theatre. Like those performances, the show will pair the Rock Hall singer with live orchestration and “newly recorded, never-before-heard, digitally remastered arrangements of his classics.”

The In Dreams trek will hit theaters and performance arts center across the U.S. and Canada before concluding November 19th in Clearwater, Florida.

“Our goal for this type of show is not just to play in major metropolitan cities, but to bring this experience to a variety of markets, regardless of size,” Brian Becker, the founder and CEO of BASE Entertainment and BASE Hologram, said in a statement.

“Roy loved playing smaller more intimate venues because he loved having that type of connection with fans. We also want to give fans across the globe the unique opportunity to once again experience the legend who continues to be a pivotal force in Rock ‘n’ Roll music and ensure that people in every city, in every type of venue, have a chance to witness what we truly believe is the future of live entertainment.”

In addition to the touring production, the hologram will also have a residency at Branson, Missouri’s Andy Williams Moon River Theatre – the first ever hologram residency – starting in 2019, with previews scheduled to begin later this year.

Alex Orbison, Roy’s son and President of Roy Orbison Music, previously said of the hologram, “My father had a special transcendent vocal ability that made him something of an anomaly in the world of pop and rock, but that’s what endeared him to his fans. For our family it was an amazing emotional experience to see this for the first time and we know audiences worldwide will have the same reaction.” Tickets are available at the show’s website.

This is ridiculous. They say it's safe, but they're unprepared for the damage and threat to human life if the hologram slips its bonds and rushes out into the crowd. God forbid it gets out of the facility and into a major population center.

The 5 or 6 MGM albums just '66 and '67! were just like home to me.
Totally original writer and singer. He's in his own genre and class.
I feel blessed that the Biggest of the next generations made that B&W thing.
Not that it's qualatatively 'better' than his own original versions
with other players and staff....but it's precious in it's own way imo.
And brilliant to see the ones we love so much love him so much and with such dedication.
It was a bit the glowfest. I'm actually more happy for HIM than
the fans. I think it must have deeply effected him that Dylan
and a entire team of brilliant cats and kitties were loving him up,
and were pretty darn capable backup musicinas for goodness sake!!

He'd been through serial tragedies so severe that even decades later,
and long after his passing; I don't care to refer to them more specifically.

omg a hologram; i knew it was coming to this.
i used to often make satiric jokes; I've probably made one or two here,
about the lips on the Mick-bot, (not a hologram; i'm an old man, so
I like the traditional simple stuff. Like lifesize robot puppets).
something about the lip protype keeps falling off; bla bla u know me by now;
we had a light show programmed in the lips but the protypes kept falling off; so there's this imaginary tech-staff 'roadie' arguments about it.
How 'shut hell up cynic THIS tour---NEEVER ends!"
but Mick will be watching
on his cell phone and there's gonna be hell to pay if the ron-bot is programmed to crack mach4. You may think it's cute but NOT Gramps!!
ok stop me somebody please.
...
....
......
ok, at least you were warned.
The keithbot would have to be programmed to what?
That's rigtht, screw up the intro to Start Me Up.
speaking of 'start me up,' okay i'll stop.

Roy: the MAN!
My first impression was detesting the sacrilige profoundly. profoundly.
my second impression was wondering when it's coming to L.A, and should
I bring two bandannas, cause one is gonna get awful wet with tears.

Interesting idea.

Makes me think that someday I can see the 1981 Tattoo You tour that I missed back in the day.

Imagine if the Stones decided to capitalize on this.

They could have their 1969 selves opening for their 2019 selves.

For the first time, there would be an opening act fans like better.

I wonder if this idea deserves a thread of its own...

Something tells me this will sell better in Elko, Nevada than in Detroit.

Elko, Nevada? Somewhere a memory awoke regarding Elko, Nevada. I recalled that it was possibly once labeled "the armpit of America" but an internet search shows that to be a memory associated with an article about Battle Mountain, Nevada, for which there is a link below.

More interestingly, at least for me, is the link that popped up regarding the late Hunter Thompson and Elko and White King, the stuffed polar bear.

None of this has anything to really do with RO's hologram floating through the time space continuum, but, ya never know. If RO's hologram comes through Elko, it just might wanna check out White King.

It will be interesting to see how well this tour does. The venues aren't that large, but I still can't see many people buying tickets. How many people remember him or his music at this point?

Right about now, Priscilla Presley is going "Hmmmm..."

"I know there's something in the mix, and I've seen the preliminaries, but nothing's come up as far as when," said the King's former wife, a key figure in the estate that controls his image. "I never say no. It all depends on the authenticity of it, the looks of it. It would have to be so close to Elvis."

Story from: [www.tampabay.com]

It'll be the biggest thing since... Elvis' gold Cadillac tour...

Elvis next?

Imagine all of the the collaborations that could take place....Elvis and Roy...Elvis and Frank Sinatra...Elvis and Chuck Berry....

And imagine the Beatles and Stones on the same stage with a guest appearance by Elvis for the encore.
Or Hendrix jamming with a still alive and well Jeff Beck with vocals by Janis Joplin and a drunk Jim Morrison.

The sky's the limit. eye popping smileydrinking smiley
