Lol @Dan - my finger has friction burn from scrolling down your list on my laptop! winking smiley

My relatively short list compared to years past:

Steely Dan - Santa Barbara Bowl
Roger Waters x 4 - Staples Center x 3 and Vegas
Steve Winwood - Chumash Casino
And several local friends bands.
I think that's it?

I had tickets for Midnight Oil and Clapton, but sadly had to miss them due to various issues.

Also have to say (and I was talking about this with my bro-in-law recently) after both Desert Trip weekends, I find it a bit difficult to get overly excited about going to see alot single acts playing in L.A. (only 60 miles away). Those DT weekends were the absolute ultimate in every way for me, and with two Neil theater shows in between, it was some of the best 10 consecutive days of my life. I'm either spoiled or just getting old, but the thrill of the chase of seeing many shows just isn't there right now. That being said, there weren't really that many this year I would have gone to anyways, and the three that I did (see above), I'll always see come hell or high water. I did but tickets for ELO at the Forum but have to wait until next August! And hoping Neil Young plays several in the SoCal area - I live between Santa Barbara and L.A. and am happily ready and willing to go to both (and beyond) to see Neil again. And there's always Bob "old reliable" Dylan and his Never Ending Tour, but haven't heard about any local dates thus far. Will 2018 find me back in the groove of attending multiple shows of at least 10? Depends whose on tour, and depends if I feel it's worth the time and effort.

Seems I only went to one concert this year, that was Rod Stewart at O2 London.
As for the rest of your post Hairball, I just can't believe it - 'you took the words right out of my mouth' ...... I so feel exactly the same way. I was so lucky to go to 2nd weekend Desert Trip, and for me it it was 'the absolute ultimate' too. The best long weekend of my life, despite the long haul flights too. An unforgettable experience in every way. Since then, life has changed, some of my concert-going friends have passed on, and I think going to a concert with someone who doesn't really want to be there, no matter how noble their intentions, well,it kinda takes the edge off a bit.
I don't think I'm ready to stay at home yet, like you Bjorn.
I have two tickets already for next year, Joe Bonamassa and Jeff Lynne's ELO. So maybe this time next year my list will be a little longer........

Sorry to hear Hairball about you having to miss concerts you had tickets for. That's worse than not being able to get tickets in the first place. I had to give up some tickets for Springsteen, either 80's or early 90's. Never been able to get tickets since, so never seen him. Never forgotten I had those tickets though

I know we all run into circumstances that cause us to alter our plans for various reasons.....I guess I've been lucky by the fact that in 49 years of concert going, I only had tickets to 2 concerts that I didn't attend (not counting cancelled shows, like the Stones in Vegas). First was back in 73 or 74 I had tickets to see Deep Purple, but when I found out Gillan left, I sold my ticket....and I once was stuck with a ticket for Dire Straits in Washington DC back in 1985 because I moved back to the left coast, while that ticket went to waist, I did see them in L.A. on that tour.

On the other hand, there were quite a few shows I wanted to get tickets for, but for one reason or another, I couldn't.

Ah no biggie really - doesn't really phase me, but thanks for your thoughts. thumbs up In the big picture of things (and life in general), concerts are a luxury.
In the case of the two I had to miss this year, the reasons far outweighed any bad feelings I might have had of missing anything. Not the first time I've had to miss concerts, and more than likely wont be the last.

But one unlucky scenario was when I had bought tickets for a Steely Dan concert years ago for my wife and I. Without remembering the dates at the time, I made plans for us to go to Hawaii - booked flights, etc., etc. It was only after the itinerary was etched in stone that I realized..."oh crap we have tix for Steely Dan during that week"...so the question was Hawaii or Steely Dan...sort of a no brainer. So I said 'aloha' to my tickets and gave them to my sister and niece who still thank me to this day so it all worked out! We've seen Steely Dan several times before and since then, as well as going to Hawaii many times before and since, so it's turned in to a funny story we laugh about to this day.

As for you not being able to get tickets to Springsteen again, he seems to come around all the time, so if there's a will there's a way.

My biggest regret is giving up the chance to see Bob Marley at the Roxy in '79 - my older bro had a spare but I declined - already had plans to party with my high school friends and go to much anticipated high school party. Never had the chance again to see Bob Marley (RIP), and it still kind of stings to think what a dumb decision I made, but at the time who knew?

*Around the same time as Marley, I also gave up Steel Pulse ticket because I was frying on mushrooms. I gave it to my friends younger brother and it worked out for both of us.
He became a lifelong reggae fan, and I had the trip of a lifetime! winking smiley

12/6/17 Mike Love @ Amoeba Music (half solo material, half Beach Boys, 60 mins which is long for an instore, Bruce Johnston and other BB touring members onstage)

12/8/17 Angus & Julia Stone @ Amoeba Music
