My all-time favorite musician. Real bummer he died young. Hope he's enjoying Rock and Roll Heaven.

"I'm going to see the Stones tonight."
Jimi Hendrix met the @RollingStones on his 27th birthday in NYC #OTD in 1969.

This picture is so strange and scary... Jimi is barely a year older than Mick but it seems he's 50 or so.
As Keith would so often say in the 60's and 70's : "just say no to drugs!" grinning smiley

Doesn't look 50 to me.
Mick looks a bit young, but Jimi looks like Jimi.

Jimi Hendrix looks great in this 69 pic, some shade in the face and Mick just ready to go on stage, what if Jimi was invited for a song ...
Jimi was great in 69 doing 43 concerts

THE greatest musician to walk the earth. Jimi Hendrix and Franz Schubert.

Imagine Jimi talking nowadays about his bad albums of the 70s,
his failed Jazz project from 1981 and his synthi tryouts in the
early 90s.

Part of his legend is that he didn´t have to keep it going.

.......and It's 25 years ago today since I saw Keith and X-pensive winos in KB-Hallen in Copenhagen.
Remember Jimi Hendrix would have turned 50 years that day.

My favorite guitar player ever...since my early Hendrix obsession as a 12 year old.

The guitar playing and solos throughout this boggled my mind way back then, and still do to this day.
Jimi Hendrix - Machine Gun

The greatest rock musician of all time. I'm sure whatever he would have done after September 18th, 1970 would have been interesting. He had so many ways he could have gone, with Miles, acoustically, this was a genius. Maybe he wouldn't have had hit records all the time, but he wasn't through by any stretch.

Nonsense. See like Brian looked in September 1968 (court appearance) and in later months - that's hardcore.

Jimi looks like Jimi.

JH looked like a human being in 67 and 68. By 69 he started looking like someone who hadn't a proper night of sleep in years. Was it the punishing working schedule or the hard drugs? I don't know...
In 1970 he looked even worse. Check out the "At Berkeley" footage where he's sitting ay the back of a limo : it's the sight of a man between life and death.

Even at his lowest (76?/77?) Keef looked healthy compared to Hendrix. Maybe he was a "discriminating junkie" after all while Jimi took everything that was handed to him, all the time.

Seems to be some slight exaggerations with this post - I don't think Keith c.'76 looked healthy in comparison to anyone or anything:

He gave one of his all time best concerts at Berkeley but he looked smacked up and half dead in that limo and at the rehearsal and the concert. I read he felt better in Maui although still depressed. Things probably got worse when he had to return to his schedule that fall. Maybe he cleaned up during the summer. At least got some sleep.
