I bet RAH dates would open the tour if they happen.

Not bad for someone who is 75 next year and said
he was retiring from touring!
Now we just need a new studio album.

Albeit not produced by Simon Climie. EC needs to be taken out of his comfort zone. Live-wise he's still great.

I would love a Blues album in the vain of Blue & Lonesome . I also think EC could do this blindfolded with one hand tied behind his back , and without breaking a sweat as well . I just Love EC !!!!!!!!!!!!! And so many know that about me . hot smiley

Clapton for some reason outside of from the cradle and the tribute to Robert Johnson seems to shy away from straight up blues albums

That's true.
However Eric has often included some old blues standards along with others on his albums.
Not been a prolific writer, he has had to.
Wish The Stones had followed his example!

Tickets for Prague are 115 - 400 Euro! (115 for nosebleeds in the 4th floor of the arena). For Clapton?

I saw him 3 times:
2013 - Prague - FOS - 65E
2014 - Vienna - FOS - 78E
2019 - Vienna - 2nd row (center) - 215E

Front seats for Prague in 2020 for 400E? The ticket pices are getting totaly ridiculous in the past few years, but this is too much - 2020 will be pretty much double of the 2019 prices, which were already more than a lot. I didn't go to see Dylan this year (it was exactly the same - saw him just the last year for half of what was the price this year) and it looks like I won't see Clapton the next year. Not that I would not have the money, but it is simply not worth it any more. Just my opinion of course.
I gues when (if) The Stones come back to Europe, the regular FOS will be 800E and 1500E in Germany. The platinum tickets will be double.

Why not mix Original compositions with 'Covers'?
They have done it in the past of course...but usually just the one or two per album (I think).
But..times have changed and clearly the creative spark is not what it once was.
Rather try Eric's example than have an album of new songs, in which, in all fairness a third are at best 'fillers'.

He's been a bit quiet over the demise of Ginger Baker.

I don't really understand why anyone needs another Blues album from EC.

'From The Cradle' was superb and IMHO doesn't need a follow up.

Cheers, Mr. J

He LOVED Clapton. As much as he hated Jack Bruce, he loved Eric Clapton. I think he genuinely saw Clapton as one of his best friends (even though in reality Ginger had no friends, at least not famous ones) whereas Clapton saw Ginger as someone he had to take care of. I don't think he harbors any ill feelings towards Ginger, he's always been very complimentary, but I think he sees Ginger as someone who hooked onto him at a very crucial point in his life and career, but isn't inviting him over to his house or seeing him in the way he'd probably see Steve Winwood.

Having said that, on a professional level, I think he adored Ginger's drumming. He praises him and Jack all the time. But personality ways, I'm not sure they were ever really "friends". Its the kind of relationship where someone is obsessed with you but not you them.

Ginger hated Jack Bruce yet they formed BBM ! Inevitably, it was short lived.
Apparantly Ginger tried to contact Jack when the latter was very very ill. Jack didn't return his calls.
Still hard to believe that ALL the three members of Cream became heroin addicts, for varying periods of course. During Eric's phase, Ginger had a plan to kidnap him and take him to some island or other to get clean. So he had that side to him also.
Ironically of course Eric went on to establish the Crossroads treatment centre...which is located on the island of Antigua.

It appears like both Jack and Ginger knew that musically they made a very good team, they just couldn't get along on a personal level.

Ginger used to complain about Jack playing too loud or interrupting his solos, in addition to him feeling he should have gotten a writer's credit for Jack's songs in Cream. BBM was certainly financially motivated (at least to some extent) and Ginger said quite openly that money was the main (sole?) cause for him to join.

I haven't read Jack's autobio so I don't know too much about his perspective. In interviews he just said in a very general way that Ginger was impossible to get along with.

Deep down Ginger didn’t hate Jack. As Ginger’s daughter says in her book, Jack loved to wind Ginger up and Ginger always took the bait.

I was at the 2016 tribute to Jack Bruce at Shepherds Bush Empire, at which Mick Taylor played. Ginger was helped on to the kit (he was very weak) and he said that he is here but Jacks isn’t which is very sad. Ginger was clearly moved by Jacks death.

Excellent news...I would imagine Steve Winwood might perform.
Charlie Watts, perhaps?
But not Mick!

Good. He kinda had to. Its the right thing. I'm glad he is.

And yeah, I'd expect Winwood. Clapton should pull together a good crew.

Would be great if Mick Taylor will be there, if only to show the world he is still alive and kicking as well as playing such great stuff on guitar. thumbs up
Steve Winwood will be there I'm sure and although Charlie would rather play Jazz, would be great for music fans if he is there.
