In the final analysis, whether or not someone likes a performer/performance is very subjective. Some people absolutely love an artist, others can't stand her/him.
I've seen Jimmy Barnes twice in the last couple of years - once as support for the amazing Paul Kelly, and the other as support for the famous Bruce Springsteen.
Jimmy is obviously an immensely likeable bloke, he's a talented performer, and has a great feel for his style of music, and from archival stuff can be seen to have had a pretty good voice.
However...
40 odd years of screaming/singing has shot his voice to pieces, and his performance is simply him enthusiastically shouting/screaming his songs. (The Emperor has no clothes).
I've seen him a couple times in the last few years, the last time solo was opening for the Rolling Stones at the Adelaide Oval in 2014 (and with Cold Chisel in December 2015). He puts on a great show and always has a great band, well worth seeing if you're a fan of his music.
