One of my fave NY and CH albums. I kept it cranked on the stereo for a long while. Saw the show at the now gone Cap Centre fueled by some of Mother Nature's own and Jose Cuervo. Hated the opening act(s). Sonic Youth was all noise as I remember their set. NY and CH played very loud which left my ears ringing for a good while after the show. How many of us vintage folks now wear hearing aids today because of the follies of youth? I'll venture a lot.

Midnight Oil (in a small club) literally made 1 of my ears bleed during their encore. what....What.....WHAT?!?!?!?!?

Amazon has Nov 6 (tomorrow) as the release date.

I saw NY on the solo leg of the Greendale tour at Hammersmith Odeon. 10 unreleased songs straight off with the story of Greendale explained in between. Totally brilliant! A very brave move by someone 35 years into his solo career. He had done the same thing 30 years previously on the Tonight's The Night tour in 1973.
When the Greendale album came out a few months later I was a bit disappointed with the electric treatments to the songs that I had gotten used to as acoustic.

I saw him there too. We were up in the Gods, it was freezing and we got all of Greendale then a few classics at the end. Underwhelmed!

I saw the full electric version w/Crazy Horse at the Santa Barbara Bowl.
They played Greendale in full, followed by an extended set of classics w/ a grand finale of Rockin' in the Free World - fantastic show!

The Guardian...yes, interesting and fun to see and read about all the albums. But I don´t agree when it comes to the ranking, not at all. But that´s how it usually is. smiling smiley

Sure, Bjorn, these 'list' articles rarely tally up with our own opinions, but it was quite well written, and an interesting summary of the master's incredible oeuvre.

Landing on Water is definitely his worst sounding record.

(From Wiki): "Landing on Water is the 15th studio album by Neil Young. The album was released on July 21, 1986, by Geffen Records. Several of the songs on the album were resurrected from Neil Young and Crazy Horse's failed 1984 sessions – a set of sessions where, according to longtime producer David Briggs, the musicians "played like monkeys". "

While the Rolling Stone link provided by Cristiano also mentions the release of the live Neil/Promise of the Real album, wondering if there will also be the film as detailed in this article from Sept.2020:

Neil Young Announces Live Album and Movie With Promise of the Real

“Noise and Flowers is truly a great collection, dripping with the soul of our band,”

For an official release it doesn't sound very good.

Wish the DVD was available as a separate entity. Deluxe box set definitely not in the budget these days. This one should be a doozy. I know it's out there but I haven't seen a boot of this show around. I'd still get the official cd as this is 1 of my favorite Neil eras. I saw a few of the shows toward the end of the tour with Sonic Youth. Social Distortion didn't play but I got Drivin N Cryin which was a fine substitute.

It's Crazy Horse, so it does not need to sound good! Only kidding but its sounds good enough to me. I have the 2xCD from the 11th with a very similar setlist but I will be all over this like a rash!

Really getting pissed off with these multi format releases which seem to exclude anyone who just wants a straightforward CD/DVD package.

I really dont want to spend over £100 buying vinyl I'll never play just so I can watch the bloody show on a DVD. And yet again, they're choosing to leave out certain songs - no doubt they'll mysteriously pop up on some other format later

I've had an audio recording of this show for about 20 years. Its an excellent gig, and way longer than the shows on the tour that followed it.

No need for deluxe here either, and will pass on the 4LP vinyl also but it does look nice (though $69+ seems steep), so will happily settle for the double cd.
As for dvd, a cd/dvd bundle would have been nice, but oh well...at least he's continuously cranking out stuff from the vaults, and unlike other bands some new material also expected soon.thumbs up

Yeah the two audience/fan-made tapes don't really sound any worse... They have more atmosphere that's for sure!

Can't see pic Cristiano, but am assuming it might have to do with the dvd eventually being sold separately?
