Okay, it was not exactly the same Mandrax II boat that Keith Richards had at the time of Exile on Main St, but it was enough for us to see the mansion by the sea.

5) THE POWER SUPPLY

During the recording sessions, electricity supply was erratic and power cuts were frequent. Ian Stewart found an answer that would have caused mass deportation faster than any drug bust if the authorities had known. One side of Nellcote's garden faced the electrified rail line that went to Monaco in one direction and Nice in the other. Stu was able to make a clandestine connection to the power cables, thus obtaining a free and unlimited supply, "courtesy" of France's national rail network, SNCF.

With the owner of the La Civette restaurant, running the place since when Keith used to hang around while he was living there. According to her, Keith used to go to that restaurant always wearing the same red jacket.

Thanks for posting those....really enjoyed browsing through them...Nellcote will always have a hold over my imagination, and a real shame none of us can get access. It looks as though you actually got on to the house's private beach...I bet there were some great days and nights down there. Excellent.

Funny fact: For those who wish to see it, according to French law it is actually permitted to access the Nellcote beach (if you can get there) as it is considered "public". Wouldn't recommend it during the two weeks the owner stays there at summer, but anyhow....

Delicious post indeed, cool and funny guys, lovely pics!! I was there a few years ago, just at the gate, with my wife and my kids. They didn‘t had much sympathy for me, hanging around at the gate, trying to breath the „soul“ of Nellcote.
