OT: COTCHFORD FARM

A lengthy piece in UK's Daily Mirror this week about the recent sale of Brian's last home.
He owned the property for around 9 months 1968/69. Since then one owner.
Now sold for just short of £2 million. (the asking price I believe)

The article also mentions that, without any hint of irony....'outside are 10 acres of land, a summer house....and a swimming pool'.

The article has lots of photos of the interior. It is quite a beautiful property. For once, Brian's judgement was spot on.
I think he paid around £30,000 for it. That's house price inflation for you.
Grade 2 listed.
Also the home of AA Milne the author of the Christopher Robin/ Winnie The Poo books.
Of which a new film has been released (not sure if Cotchford is used for any location shots?).

I am not teccie so cannot transfer the link...if anyone with the necessary skills can?

The guest house on bottom right. Is this where Frank stayed (didn't Brian walk over to tell him how sorry he was for yelling at him and invited him back to the main house)? I wonder when he moved out?

It was for sale a couple of years ago when I was looking for a house in the country. I seriously considered it but was put off by the fact that the owners said they constantly get people turning up wanting to see Brian Jones's house. So I moved to Winchester instead!

i would have bought it, but wasnt sure if it was near a tesco,s.

just didnt want to take the risk of running out of beer late evening and having to pop out into an area i wasnt familiar with, i could end up getting lost in the dark.

I remember that story because they quoted me from this website, in some local paper called the Argus. Which I got a kick out of because I'm in the U.S., and being quoted somewhere across the world. They never even asked me if they could.

A fan club member using the alias 24FPS said: “It would spook the crap out of me to live there. I can’t imagine going near that pool on Cotchford Farm for a swim.”

Despite being 'broke' Brian was able to purchase a property which in now worth a lot of dosh.
And in 1968 30 grand was A LOT of money then.
To keep 'the boys' sweet, Klein obviously loosened the purse strings to enable them to buy some fabulous homes.
Rather than pay the UK Tax authorities of course.
