Brilliant guitarist, love his work with Warren Zevon and many ohthers, including of course Keith's solo work. But why did he play on nearly every track on Bridges To Babylon? Was Ronnie about to be kicked out then or something? I know he has been threatened with that and has went through rehab, but it seems pretty extreme to put Waddy on nearly every track of BTB. Can't remember any other guitar player getting similar treatment on any other Stones album.
I love his stuff but can't even pick him out from Keith and Ronnie on that album. Did he do any solos or anything really noteable on any song there?
When they recorded BTB, Ronnie was in bad condition. He drank a lot and it is said that he was back on smack. Waddy worked a lot with Keith, so he invited him to play on the songs Keith was recording. Hope you know, that Mick and Keith worked separetely on BTB. Mick with his producers and musicians and Keith with his. The only "joint" factor was Charlie Watts. The reason was that Keith didn't want to work with dudes like the Chemical Brothers and Babyface, so he rejected coming to the studio. On the other hand, Mick did a lot of recordings at home and just finetuned theses recordings in the studio.

the most beautiful piece of music on that entire album, for me, is the guitar solo at the end of "Anybody seen my baby". And thats Waddy.
Does anyone remember reading about Waddy being arrested a few years ago. I won't say what for because after I read about it I never saw it again, and I don't want to stir things up if I was wrong because I can't find anything about it online now. Just curious if anyone else remembers. For a day or two, it was on a few news and music news sites.
I believe he was busted for some sort of porn situation. Not sure of the details, but I remember that it wasn't pretty. Regardless, Waddy is a fantastic player. Keith can pick em.
Nah. It was the "Blues Brothers" who stunk up the joint in Chicago last Saturday night. Thankfully they only gave Akroyd and the other Belushi 20 minutes or so. It was dreadful.
Waddy Watchell is a tremendous guitar player. I think Keith was trying to put together "his" stuff on that album: he couldn´t count on Mick so he just called a buddy and former Wino (who also lives in LA where B2B was being recorded) to finish "Lowdown", "Flip the switch", "you don´t have to mean it", "Too Tight" , "Thief in the night" and "How can i STOP".
I had heard through hearsay the charges were dropped, but have never seen any real confirmation anywhere in the news.
Funny how it is everywhere when he is charged, but nowhere to be found when he is exonerated! Even when you google it today, its easy to find a link to stories about the charges, nothing about the outcome - which tells me right there that he wasn't found guilty. No news value if he is innocent! (never mind what it may have done to his career).
I would like some closure on this so I will know whether to despise the guy or not!
If I remember correctly, the charges against Waddys wife were dropped, while he plead guilty to a lesser charge and got three years probation.....I may be wrong but I think this was the outcome.........
