Evening Gown is Memory Motel

Never noticed before, Memory Motel started playing on my computer and I mistakenly thought it was Evening Gown. Virtually same chord progression on piano. The Old Man Down the Road is Running Through the Jungle.

Two totally different ideas of a ballad.

Example: Evening Gown has a fantastic bridge before the solo. MM has not.

Fogarty ought to write a new song with that title.

It's "Run Through the Jungle" and it's Fogerty.

And it's Darryl.

And it's Karl.

I'm going to have to start deducting points on your homework.

Different, both in terms of chord progression and feel. Both have a piano-heavy sound, though. Both have wonderful bridges as well.

Two great tracks.

Now "No Spare Parts" and "Gangster's Moll," there you might have an argument...

Not to mention the trio Coming Down Again, Sleep Tonight and Baby, You're Too Much..

1) Spelling doesn't count on the internet.

2) You're not supposed to assign grades as a measure of achievement anymore as low grades could hurt the self esteem of the student.

In other words:
U R gunna hav 2 lern 2 git ovur it

Enjoy the 21st century!

Peace,
Mr DJA

for F***s sake just enjoy the tracks don't dissect them. If you don't like them then leave the building.

I'm aware it's "run" not "running" - it didn't work as a sentence without that conjugation and therefore didn't work as well as a joke. Christ.

I thought dissecting tracks was a good bit of what people on a music message board do. What are we supposed to analyze if not the music? I didn't say I didn't like them, I said they were similar.

Ok I understand your opinion. Sorry I was sounding negative.

Does MM even have a bridge? (Still a great song IMO).

Would the bridge be the "Sha La La La" part, or Keith's vocal part? I always thought of those more as a "breakdown".

I like both songs. They both have a different feel to me though.

Well, the same with my referencing the spelling of Darryl and Karl...it was brought up for the joke. However, Mr. DJA gave me a poor score as professor...or possibly he was quoting Prince lyrics and I didn't realize it.
