Which other numbers should be played from Blue & Lonesome
Posted by: 1962 ()
Date: September 21, 2017 11:45

"Just Your Fool" "Ride 'Em On Down" and "Hate To See You Go" were highlights for me on this tour.

Which one could/should be the next from "Blue & Lonesome" ?

Commit A Crime
Blue And Lonesome
All Of Your Love
I Gotta Go
Everybody Knows About My Good Thing
Hoo Doo Blues
Little Rain
Just Like I Treat You
I Can't Quit You Baby

I vote for "Commit A Crime" and "Little Rain"

Any thoughts?

To tell the truth I wouldn't mind to hear any of them.
When The Rolling Stones play the blues: it's pure magic (for themselves, too. I think)

Would love Little Rain too! We should start a petition - what tour was it when IORR managed to get Sway on the list?

All played blues numbers went very well in front of 50.000, 80.000, 95.000, 70.000 people.

So glad to see the blues covers in the sets..

Having heard them play two of them live at DT and Vegas, it was really great to see them make them the no-filter set-lists.

If they played only a couple more my vote would be for Little Rain and Commit a Crime. Any additional would be great though.

It was a nice surprise with Hate To See You Go yesterday. I thought they played that one better than Just Your Fool.

Commit A Crime

All of them.

They seem to be interchangeable because of similar levels of popularity , similar grade of quality.

No good reason to perform the same 2 every night. I am glad that they added a 3rd song from the album the other night.

They should play all of them multiple times and release a live album of the best versions. But....

I fear they will only play the fast numbers, so we may get:

- Just Like I treat you
- Commit A Crime
- I Gotta Go

And maybe Blue And Lonesome because it was the album title track.

None of them, give me some rare Stones songs instead. This might be their last tour and I don't need no covers, especially when Mick is rushing through the lyrics like on ''Hate To See You Go'' last night.

Give me ''Heartbreaker'' and ''Stray Cat Blues'' anyday over some dusted blues tracks.

I would like to see 'everybody knows about my good thing'

I can see Mick pulling his faces and ramping it up and up as he shouts 'call the plumber darlin'. I think it might go down well.

Valid points, but have to say the live versions of these blues covers are far better than the studio recordings IMO, and it's a treat to see them played live. Back to the roots of the band, and they put their heart into it.
In a giant stadium setting though, one or two is enough as a majority of the crowd might get bored or fidgety wanting to hear a warhorse. But if played in a small club or theater, the more the merrier and it might be more satisfying then hearing them play Start Me Up, Brown Sugar, or any warhorse that's been butchered to death hundreds of times.

I would vote for a song from the (more or less) forthcoming album. Why not play a new original once?

I love Little Rain, but I m not sure its atmospheric feeling would come across in a big outdoor venue. Maybe indoors in Paris? Would like to hear Hoodoo Blues or Blue and Lonesome.

None. They should play more mid tempo songs from Goats/iorr/B&B/Exile/ maybe Between and Aftermath era.

The Blue And Lonesome-numbers are the highlights of the show. They should increase the number of songs off that album in the set.

Any of them, all of them. These B&L numbers have been the highlight of the tour for me along with DWMD at Zurich. There seems to be a real ease about them when they do these old blues numbers.
