When I heard the shocking news of Petty's passing, I thought of Bill, and wondered if he is doing better. And then I listened to the Forth Worth concert from 1978. Bill is unbelievably great in it! Spectacular. What a tight band it was during his days with The Stones!
I have great respect for Bill as a musician and also as a person. A down to Earth and humble person. I treasure that 20-30 minutes we've spent talking. It was great to see how happy he was with the RK backstage (in Budapest), and how loose and relaxed everybody was. I think they were just happy doing these club-sized dates with no pressure or expectations. Just like good old days.
