Oh no. He seemed like one of those guys who would live forever. He looked old and weathered even 50 years ago...terrific character actor who just recently won acclaim and Best Actor buzz for Lucky.

He was also one-half of Roger Ebert's Stanton-Walsh rule: "No movie featuring either Harry Dean Stanton or M. Emmet Walsh in a supporting role can be altogether bad".

RIP, Harry.

I want to dance with Harry Dean
Drive through Texas in a black limousine
I want a piece of heaven 'fore I die

Cheers Debbie

I'm watching "The Avengers" just for the cameo. "Son, you've got a condition".

HDS was one of the best, Roger Ebert's quote on him was spot on.

Great shot Rockman, looks to be at Dan Tana's (where else)?

Wish he had a CD...always liked his music. Loved him in Straight Time.

Fabulous actor particularly when working for lynch. He stole the few scenes he was in on the recent (and also excellent) twin peaks revival. I'd no idea he was 91, he's always looked the same. What a great talent and by all accounts a fabulous man. Big loss

He was terrifying and fearless in HBO's Big Love series; amazing actor.

His acting on The Straight Story was amazing, even appearing on those few minutes on that movie. He will be sorely missed. RIP and thank you, Harry Dean.

Here's a fantastic little video that summarizes his entire career:

Made before he passed as far as I know.

thumbs up the moment when - watching home movies - he turns his head away to not look at the image of his missing wife is heartbreaking.

He should have played Barnabas Collins in the Dark Shadows remake instead of Depp.

Always sad to hear about a death. He had a few great and philosophical moments in Twin Peaks. Really loved that. Thanks to him and R.I.P.

RIP Harry.

A fantastic cult actor, a good musician too, he loved his booze and smokes, never seen him in an interview without both close to hand. And he made it to 91.
Amazing.
