I think six weeks are more than enough to sell out an Australian tour. On the other hand, why should they play there before UK? The last Aussie tour was in late 2014, the last British shows 1 1/2 years earlier. Maybe they don't wanna play home "unrehearsed".

If the Uk tour starts in May 2018...i dont think they will do any live gigs in another country before that.

rumours gathering momentum re Aussie dates in March
At Macca show last night promoter was quoted as saying the Stones are a lock for March.
Bernard was listed as touring with the Bowie tribute band, but has pulled out and no David Gilmour dates are due which means Chuck is free

Why should the UK tour start in May? They don't have to finish it until mid June.
In Italy you can easily start the opening air season in May, but in the UK or Ireland? Chances are the first shows are all in cold, rainy weather.

If they tour Australia in March they have to announce it this month? They did announce the 2014 Australian shows in December 2013.

At what point in the McCartney show was the promoter quoted? Was this by Paul on stage, or a private (unverifiable) conversation that you happened to have that happened to be at the totally irrelevant (in context) location.
Sceptical? Moi? Yup?
Best bet IMHO, if they are coming back to honour 2 missed gigs dates at Hanging Rock (my local venue!), is that they'll come at about the same time as Exhibtionism opens in November. That's 100% guess, no actual information.
Finally, as you raised McCartney, lets hope that the Stones start to do 3 hour shows like he does! Also, for the record, the account Paul gives from the stage of how he & Lennon helped The Stones with "I Wanna Be Your Man" (which they 100% did), is utter nonsense. He also claims that it was their first No1 - which it wasn't - it only got to No12 in the UK

I sometimes think Sir Paul and Sir Mick have a competitive bet running;
You retire first, No YOU retire first, I’ll quit when you quit,
that bugger I can’t let him outlast me...

Mick is at a substantial disadvantage in that particular race, as
- Paul’s stage act involves no running about
- Paul’s entire band is 20-25 years younger than he is
None of which is meant at a slight to Paul, who still puts on terrific shows. But Mick has a more difficult task these days.
