Yes would have a nice gesture for Grenfell if The Stones played for them.
There is benefit footie game at QPR this Sat 02 Sept which has footballers and musicians playing to raise funds at £15 quid a ticket.
Marcus Mumford is involved and some thought a gig would be better.
Stones could have filled it and raised more money and would be perfect timing
for a full rehearsal for mainland Europe.

That's a bit strong Hairball
I'm sure its not so much a case who the f*ck is Karl Denson or should we even know who he is, so much as do we care.
I'm still struggling to come to terms with Chuck, Matt and Sasha winking smiley
This is not the most conducive environment for the atmosphere of Rock and Roll that i want to hear.

Karl Denson's Tiny Universe is a pretty popular 'jam band' here in the States. Although they're more funk than they are Grateful Dead type 'jammy'. They actually just played a free show here in Denver Saturday night. I wasn't there but I know they did a few Stones tunes including Live w Me. Guy's awesome, I can't imagine a much better fit for the sax roll in the Stones.

These guys never cease to amaze me, going out on the road again. Crazy.

Well, they don't tour in a bus or a van. In fact, all they do is show up to fly, limo/SUV, sit around, do a show, hotel.

And not very often.

I never knew he had his own band! thumbs up
That was actually pretty good in an odd way - kind of a contemporary country/rock/funk jam (who knew there was such a thing?), and that slide guitar throughout was HOT!
I liked it better than Getta Grip and England Lost!!! Go Karl!

A lot of his live recordings can be listened on Archive.org, including a concert on which he played Sticky Fingers on its entirety in 2011.

KD's got some Stones cred. He did a "Sticky Fingers" themed run of shows in 2011.

Getting back to the rehearsals, are there any IORRians staking out the studios?

I guess not, or perhaps there are, but there's nothing to report.

I've been thinking of having a gawp at the building (if nothing else) at the weekend but perhaps the Stones have the weekend off as well.

Also they only do an average of 15 shows per tour, with an average of playing about two show's per week while on tour. That is a lot of hanging around in Hotel rooms.
At their age it's a bit sad to take up their final years in this way.
Especially as they offer nothing new, just the same show over and over.

And yet i can't wait to see them in Paris. Have we all been brainwashed by the music lol.
I'm in my car and i play 2013 Hide Park over and over, like i can't get enough of it, i can't get enough of Rambler or keith and Ronnie dualing at the end of GS.
Same with JJF , it still puts shivers up my spine. Why confused smiley

I've heard tomorrow is the last day of London rehearsals. Any truth to it? Can the band move to Hamburg on Monday/Tuesday and continue rehearsing there, incl. set rehearsals on site?

One of the guys who apparently showed up outside the rehearsals yesterday and were talking to someone from Stones camp. Could be BS though.

You say it's sad to spend their days doing this at their age.

Anyone with any passion for life and desire to see the world would give their right arm to live that life and to still be doing it at the age the Stones are is nothing short of incredible.

I see what you are saying, but you miss the point i made.
The reality of these tours for the Stones themselves is playing two shows a week , then spending the rest of the week held up in a hotel or travelling.
That's the sad part. Because of their fame they have strict security while on tour, they are restricted mostly to their hotel rooms.

I could understand that sort of sacrifice at their ages if they offered something new or different, like a new album to promote, but instead they have opted for another 15 shows of Warhorses.
Hope i'm wrong though, hope they got a few treats for us, but i'm not holding my breath.
Yeah i think its sad to keep repeating the same show, whats passionate about artists repeating themselves. Its not creative to repeat the same thing, its baffling.

Why would they spend 3/4 days in a hotel room when they can private jet back home to London in a couple of hours?

Complete nonsense.
Pick up a paper or read a thread on the shows once in a while.
Mick and Charlie are often out and about in the cities they visit while on tour.
Catching everything from museums to local shows (most of us have even run into them at various venues, Lisa Fischer concert had me standing in line at the bar behind Charlie Watts) and then seated nearby Keith as well. Ronnie and Sally have been very active as well. During the Zip Code tour, Mick and Charlie visited something cool in nearly every city.

They obviously enjoy touring and the road life has gotten much easier over the decades. As it should.
