Bobby was Rockandroll. From the 50's (Sam 'The man" Taylor on Big Joe Turner "Shake,Rattle & Roll") and 60's maybe less aggressive Dion, Tempations, Presley, the Beatles, Bobby came up with his own rocking approach to what a Rockandroll saxophone solo should be. My impression is that he made his solos equal to guitar solos. In the 50's and 60's the sax solos were more "fun" musical moments in the songs(benny Hill). In the late 60's rock and roll was dangerous, sometimes threatful. Bobby is the original SaxSlinger of Rockandroll.

I will always remember Bobby with affection. Met him several times and he always took time to chat.
The last chat I had with him was at the Savoy hotel in London after the last O2 show in 2007. What a great guy.
I did get to say 'hello' and shake a hand as he was leaving the hotel for the show in Singapore 2014 just 9 months before his death.
I know he's up there playing his sax for the Big Man every night, every night in Heaven is a Saturday night
