"Every Night's a Saturday Night - The Bobby Keys Story" documentary
Posted by: Cristiano Radtke ()
Date: August 13, 2017 21:55

This documentary directed by Jeff Stacy and distributed through Icon Television Music is up for pre-sale at Amazon Japan due out on 30 August.

This documentary features interviews with Keith Richards, Mick Taylor, Charlie Watts, Ronnie Wood, Ian McLagan, Billy Gibbons, Dr. John, Jim Keltner, among many others.

From an interview with the director Jeff Stacy for the Hollywood Reporter in 2013:

"Everyone's happy to talk about Bobby," says Stacy. "After spending time with him, you come away with a feeling that you've been with the spirit of rock 'n' roll past, present and future. You walk away with a smile -- and sometimes a hangover.”

Thanks. Hope it finds general release. Never read a thought of Bobby by Bill, though I know Bobby thought Bill was a great bass player.

My wife says to this day that seeing Bobby and the Suffering Bastards play a small club gig in 2012 was the most fun she's ever had at a concert. I'll certainly never forget standing four feet away from him, looking right into the bell of his saxophone, while he played CYHMK. Live music just doesn't get any better than that.

His autobiography of the same title is a great read

Saw Bobby and the Suffering Bastards in Columbus in October 2012, right before the full band reconvened for the shows in London, NJ and NYC... Phenomenal show with so many flavors of the great music Bobby had been involved with.

Bought his book that night and waited after the show and got to meet and shake hands with the man and say Thanks for all the music. I asked him when he would get the call to join The Stones for rehearsals, and he smiled and said "I always get the call, Brother!"

A classic moment in time with a true legend in music!

I second that. Met him backstage @ a Winos show & he was extremely nice. Told some great stories. Keith was great too but was able to spend more time with Bobby.

How come no interviews with Mick and Bill?

I saw him on the street outside the Savoy in London after the closing ABB show outside the band's end of the tour party ten years ago this month. I walked right by and he was talking to one guy and that was it. Still kick myself for not trying to talk to him.

Has this been released in the US on DVD, Blu-Ray or digital download? The film, not the book.

Thanks!

AXS is proving itself a worthy channel, and the fact it's free makes it all the better.
Watched the Ronnie show the other night with Toots as guest - never saw the episode.
They were like two old stoned legends trading stories from the past, listening to cool tunes, etc.
And Toots...such a sweet, soulful man!
