What age you had on your first concert?
Posted by: rollingvince ()

Hi,

I want to take my 10 years old godchild to Amsterdam in the Premium standing. Don't know if he's Gonna Enjoy it.

He loves to wear his tongue T-shirts.

How old were you on your first Stones gig?
Or how old were your youngest fans you took with you?

Nice ...but my guess is that 10 years is way to young for the Stones....I remember that I took my youngest son to the Stones when he was 15 years old............the noise scares the dead out of him maybe it was that we were in front o the stage....

Did you already play some Stones records for your godchild?

On any case if you take your godchild with you I'm pretty sure it will be an unforgettable experience for both of you. smileys with beer

I went to see the glam/metal band Angel at the Santa Monica Civic around '76 when I was 13 years old for free. Their management set up a free concert promotion, and no one paid a penny to be there.
It was recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour (broadcast on US radio stations), and is available on youtube. While it's nice to have as a reminder of my first concert, even at the time I thought they were really bad lol.
When your first concert is this bad, things can only get better from there which they certainly did. My next concert was Blue Oyster Cult, and it was like night and day..."Don't Fear the Reaper", etc. - it was superior in every way.

Angel -Santa Monica Civic, 1976

The Beatles, 1964, Civic Center, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. My young sister won tickets to see them. It was bedlam. Lots of girls, lots of screaming, some vague figures on the stage and no music to be heard over the screaming and hysterical girls. Can't remember if there were many guys at the show. There was an opening act if I remember right. Gawd knows who they were. Within 30 to 40 minutes of starting their show the Beatles were gone and done.

The Beatles stayed at the nearby Holiday Inn, across the street from the Civic Center. It was the newest hotel in town with a revolving restaurant on the top. The place was mobbed with fans before and after the show. A friend of our family who worked there said there were girls trying every way possible to get onto the floor where the Beatles were. She said after the Beatles left to go on to their next gig, the pillow cases, linens and bedding they used, along with glasses, ash trays and what have you, were seized by the Holiday Inn staff and cut up to be parceled out or sold as souvenirs of the Beatles visit to Baltimore. I wonder if this happened with any other groups that might have stayed there during those days of the British Invasion and dawning of 60s rock.

It wasn't until 1965, if I remember right, that the Stones first played Baltimore at the Civic Center. I saw them then and again at the Civic Center in 1966. There were screams and noise at these shows, but nothing like the Beatles concert. Alas, my Baltimore concert days came to an end at the end of 1966 when I joined the U-S Air Force rather than be drafted by the U-S Army. If you are of my generation, y'all will understand my joining one rather than being part of the other.

I took my daughter to see the Stones in Orlando two years ago when she was age 8,

I took both of my daughters (they are twins) to see Taylor Swift two months later in Tampa when they were 8.

I took the same daughter who went with me to the Stones to see McCartney last month in Tampa at age 10.

When I was 11 my dad took me to see Elvis in Duluth, Minnesota, about four months before he died.

I am 51 now, and for the last 40 years I have been able to say I saw Elvis. I don't know anyone else my age who can say the same thing,

The Stones weren't a great experience for my daughter, we were in the upper deck and the sound was too muddled and loud. She liked McCartney better because it was inside and the fireworks on Live and Let Die.

At any rate, I am hoping later in her life she will be proud to say she saw the Stones and McCartney with her dad when she was little, just the same way I am with my dad and Elvis.

GOOD FOR YOU MAN!! That is how it is done!!
Get it while the getting is good!!!
4 Stones shows coming up for you!! That is awesome!

So many grumps around here blathering how they wont go see them again...
them grumpydumpsters almost proudly proclaiming that... blah blah blah

So good for you seeing them when they come close...
esp cuz you have been talking for a long long time about wishing to see them again
and you got your chance and you are DOING IT!!!smileys with beer

I wish they would come close to me again...
I never miss them if they came close.

-----------------------
as far as the topic...
First show... 10 years old,
I was taken by adults to Humble Pie and Black Oak Arkansas
I thought IT ROCKED! even if we had upper level BS trash seats...
I learned that upperfkglevel is NOT where I want to see rock shows

First show I went on my own was The Allman Brothers, 14 years old
It was general admission, chairs on floor, we waited for hours outsoide
and when the doors opened WE RAN!!!! and we nailed 2nd row center
and I put in stone that is where I needed to be for rock shows
and that is where I spent most of my youth seeing everyone... up front...
fighting tooth fang and claw, waiting all nights, waiting all afternoons,
getting lucky, paying up... getting to, being in, the first 5 rows or bust!!!

I was 14, but it was John Denver, so I guess that converts to about 67.
