BTW, I have today a Google search engine with "Happy Birthday" and candles, and I did not understand why... Then I checked my personal info details, and remember I put Mick's DOB, as July 26, 1943, instead of mine, so I would not give too much of me to the GAFA

Deltics - do you have any more info about that photo? Preston's my home town. I was already a very young fan back then and saw all of them there on what was most probably that very day (not playing but in other circumstances).

The Stones played two gigs in Lancashire that week, at the Empress Ballroom, Blackpool on the 24th (the notorious "riot") and at the Imperial Ballroom in Nelson on the 25th.
As I'm sure you're aware, Preston is roughly half-way between the two venues so it would have been a convenient place to stay.
They had a gig (2 shows) at Leicester De Montfort Hall later on the 26th so I imagine the photo was taken at their hotel in the morning prior to their trip down the M6.

Still puzzled by powerage's photo comment though!

True what you say about the location of Preston, but I had always wondered if they might have been trying to go incognito there after Blackpool because they weren't staying at a hotel but in a nondescript house in a nondescript neighbourhood outside Preston, which is where I saw them. I just wondered if the photo might have been taken there, though the surroundings look a bit grander than the house I saw them at. It was early afternoon, so perhaps it was 25th that I saw them. [Sorry, Mick - did not intend to hijack your birthday thread. Have a good one!]

Yes, I've seen that before, which also deepens the mystery about what they were doing in that house, which was mobbed by members of the press. It was reported in local paper but the online archives don't date back that far.

Thank you for all of the awesome music that I have enjoyed for 50 years (bought my first Stones album in 1967) Like most people, I had no idea that the Stones would still be going strong after 50 years of doing their thing - what a pleasant surprise
