What a joy to see these again. Those were the days. STICKY FINGERS and STONES PEOPLE MAGAZINE were how I coped with the loss of BEGGARS BANQUET and CONNECTION. Such a part of my teens and twenties.

Those 3 Ossie Clark "Mick as Lucifer" quotes are examples of what I've always thought of as the Stones promo machine in high gear. Clearly, Mr. Clark was an "insider"--he went on to design Mick's iconic sequined jumpsuits in the early 70's--and so his telling tales out of school during the '69 tour is interesting. He wasn't ex-communicated for fanning the flames of satanism that swirled around the band in those days.

I've often thought they wanted to have it both ways: while they didn't themselves encourage such talk, there was enough of it around them to suggest they didn't mind the aura of 'danger' it created.

This of course all came crashing down in those scenes in Gimme Shelter of an ashen-faced Jagger as he watched footage from the Altamont concert: Mick seeing in a sense what his performances that year helped create and his utter powerlessness to do anything to control the frenzy of that day. He--and they--would never 'dance with the devil' quite like that again.

Managed to find a copy of Volume 2 in the series and wanted to share. Anyone know what issue Volume 3 is in? I am obsessed with the 1969 tour and will try to track down a copy to scan and share.

I wonder what I should do with my stacks of IORR, Stones People, Basement News,.

I thought you'd say that. But then there'd be another loose, small blog with them floating around. I'd rather pass them on to someone who has a huge bank going, where fans already are going to, so they can be added into a larger album.

When you look at the names in the by lines, I think most of the old timers will recognize the names. There's Chris M. who did the Revelations site, one of the very best on the entire Net; there is Hendrik Mulder, who was invaluable in the heyday of CD releases and trading. There is John Carr of course, Steve Currin who was very active, and Jim Sheridan, whose name I also recognize. as time went on others started doing reviews.

Yeah, great magazine.
I'm only missing the very first issue: vol 1 Issue 1.
Anybody able to help?
Buying preferred, but a scan could make me very happy too.

Let it rock!
