George this album is not good seller for even xmas, I wonder why I think it will drop in price after xmas, book is already dropped in price In some bookshops in london. Well its only Rock & Roll.

These recordings are over 50 years old, about half of the album is unlistenable by today's music standards and many of the audience interested on these things is already dead.

The album was released 15-20 years too late.

Cops And Robbers ......

Musta listened to it a million times over da years and it
still knocks me ta pieces... esp Mick's cool handling of all da street jive talkin' ....

And he said "When you get to that red light
I want you all to jump back to your left and then switch back to your right"

How did a 21yr old kid from Dartford lay it all down so friggin' easy ...... "Don't you try no monkey business, I got a stopper in my hand"

It's magnificent, and the sound quality of those Blues In Rhythms-tracks are superior to Ya Yas.

Here in Germany it sold more than half the amount of the new U2 album released the same day. That's really good.

"Officials" ?

You're referring to On Air deluxe and the GRRRR bonus disc?
While I have both of those - as well as a slew of various boots burned on cd's throughout the years - the packaging of the collection posted by Irix seems to be superior (including the detailed chronlogical order). Not sure what the quality of the sound is on that, but probably the same as my other raw boots. And while On Air may be "enhanced" for the most part soundwise, there's still some iffy parts of it, including some of the editing.

This comes from the Hoffman Forums.

Well, the bright side to this is that there is an upgrade of the Ass Blaster set in production right now. Supposedly, the first disc will be entirely upgraded from new pre-fm sources and there will be 3 additional tracks. The relative failure of the official release has turned over all kinds of, uh, stones.

A live version of "Not Fade Away" and the BBC vocal versions of Jumpin Jack Flash & Honky Tonk Women.

There have also been new sources unearthed for the BBC tape-sourced stuff in addition to new transcription LP transfers. It should be nice. The old NR'd Swingin' Pig boot will finally be totally obsolete.

Sorry to disappoint you, but these are bootlegs trying to look "official" by using the Westwood One logo, the material is taken from other bootlegs (as usual).

Reading that reply by Jagger to re-issuing Stones' 60's Decca material doesn't look too good. Not likely we will see very soon any special treatments of, say, BEGGARS BANQUET or LET IT BLEED. The split with Klein people seems to be eternal, and Jagger doesn't sound having any second-thoughts. A shame.

Thanks Christiano for providing us the article!thumbs up

But out of curiosity, being that you say this is "official" , yet it was from your dj friend from your radio station, how is someone supposed to get a copy?
I don't see it available anywhere - not even on ebay.

The only info I can find is from discogs.com:

The Rolling Stones – Sympathy For The Collector Part 4

Label:
Westwood One Radio Network – Vol.79
Format: CD, Album, Unofficial Release
Country: US

The Rolling Stones – Sympathy For The Collector Part 5

Label:Westwood One (2) – VOL.80
Series:Rarities On Compact Disc – VOL.80
Format: CD, Compilation, Unofficial Release

"This release has been blocked from sale in the marketplace.
It is not permitted to sell this item on Discogs".

Most unofficial release have gotten this "blocked from sale"-note. Means Discogs.com is dead for bootleg collectors.

Yes I realize that Monsoon. thumbs up
shaddoby stated "just get the "officials"' and I'm wondering what he's referring to and where they can be officially acquired - discogs calls them unofficial.
Maybe bootlegs were made from the official Westwood One radio discs with replicated artwork?

Sine then, found another site where it is labeled as an unofficial boot: The Rolling Stones: Sympathy For Collector: Part 4 & 5

And another: Sympathy For The Collector Part 4 - CD, Bootleg

And found an old thread on IORR here: The Rolling Stones Rarities-Sympathy For The Collector Part 4

Nice to see Mick and Keith doing a bit of (albeit modest PR).
Pity though that no one has asked them why no companion TV Documentary or a DVD release.
Pity the Stones have no Apple Corps type structure to maximise the potential.
Mick's excuse re ABKCO is very lame. The Fab 4 never owned their copyrights either.

My exact sentiment as well and I just figured that after all of us have purchased the audio which I really love by the way that the DVD will surface in 6-12 months as well I hope . I can understand where Mick is coming from about ABKCO as we all know the story about all of that .

Never read such an idiotic and aggressive reply before here, what's wrong with you?

"DJ friend" - ha! Good story, invented just to add "substance" to your claim. When you talk about "Rarities On Compact Disc" - these were indeed initially Westwood One products, however, the quantities that were available back then can lead to no other conclusion that these (rare) originals were heavily bootlegged/pirated shortly thereafter - Westwood One simply did not press thousands of copies of their programs, just enough copies were made to feed the radio stations who were carrying this program.

The "Sympathy For The Record Collector" series, however, is bootleg right from the start, the producer behind this series obviously took the idea from the "Rarities" series.

"Vol. 4 & 5 = copy of Beat Beat Beat - At The Beep (Invasion Unlimited IU 9428-2)" as mentioned elsewhere on this site and, btw., is pretty obvious.
