great idea...i went to a 'stones night' at a local club a few years ago, several bands each came up onstage and did one stones song. fantastic night.

For it to happen in the US, they would have to include a raffle for a chance to
win A BRAND NEW WASHING MACHINE.

It was a great concept, and it was fantastic listening to the album with that equipment.

The timing could have been better, though (people are going away on vacation these days), as the turnout was rather mediocre.

They said this was the 60th album they had arranged a listening party for, so they have been doing this for a while.

The Kink's Village Green Preservation Society is being considered for a listening party later. I might go back for that one, and I will help them with the original Pye mono-edition, if they don't have it

With Morten Ståle Nilsen?! The guy who constantly writes negative about the Stones? He who claims that Charlie Watts play static drums and doesn't swing? The same who disses the blues and think Midnight Rambler is boring? Did he actually say anything positive about Exile on Main Street?

He's just like the other 1969-1974 fans here on IORR

Yep, many nice things (although he claimed that the album was saved in LA by the session musicians and the female backing vocalists). And he brought his own original vinyl to play.

He complained about the uneven tempo on Soul Survivor, though. That was interesting. I had never thought of that..
