I find it extremely boring.
Instrumental blues of the kind you can feed swine with.

I think its a tasteful song. Nothing more, nothing less. Nice to listen to, whn you have a glass of wine, fine cheese and a good conversation with yourself.

the only thing that stood out to me about this pedestrian blues was the bass - so warm and big!

It's clearly just one of the countless «warm-up blues»-tracks from Pathe Marconi, but there is always something interesting going on in those, imo.

Let's not forget the lovely harp playing in there thumbs up

True - although I do like the title.
There is some decent playing though- especially piano - but alas it leads to nowhere.
I would have actually preferred things like this though over the recent covers.

I thought you said B&L was decent, not extremely boring smoking smiley

Armpit Blues! YES thumbs up

I Like them all, these blues instrumentals. Slow ones, faster ones. All of them.

Listening to the Jamming With STU bootleg a lot last few weeks and especially the first 5 songs.

Disc 1:
- Looking For Trouble (with vocals)
- Cook Cook Blues (early version, with vocals, later released as B-side)
- Blues Jam I
- Blues Jam II
- Blues Jam III
and TIE YOU UP (early version, with vocals, 10 minute+ version, great groove)

What I like about it is the early stage of the recordingsessions you get to hear.
A bit like a fly on the wall experience.

The Rawness... Unpolished...Improvising...Instrumental craftmanship...Loose Jamming...

All in all I have been listening to outtakes and early versions like this more than official released songs thru the years.

I was referring to Bluerangers comment "Instrumental blues of the kind you can feed swine with"...which I should have highlighted in bold, but now that you mention it, B&L has gone from "decent" to "boring". Just Your Fool and Ride 'em on down at Desert Trips and Vegas shows were excellent surrounded by other Stones tunes, really lively (though some of the audience looked bored), but the studio versions in the context of the album don't quite do it for me - I got bored with it all after a couple of weeks (or less) and don't listen to any of it anymore. Is B&L extremely boring? Nah...not that bad. It's still a generous 2 out of 5 on my radar. I'd rather listen to these oddball outtakes of blues jams any day - "the kind you can feed swine with" - which for me is kind of a term of endearment...dirty, rough, and raw Stones...no covers necessary...jamming like they mean it.thumbs up

Without this kind of "boring" cuts the Stones would be just another band. They would sound "like bloody Status Quo" to quote the late great Stu.
With "Armpit Blues" you get to hear the essence of the Stones' sound and musical ID. thumbs up

For me this tune separates the tourists from the purists.
