(OT) The 100 Best Guitar Solos Ever
Date: June 16, 2017 16:52

The Stones made it to #8 with SFTD. Sway and CYHMK were a bit further down on the list:

"It's All Over Now" should be on 1. And an honourable mention for "Down The Road Apiece".

In the No #1 spot - Mick Taylor's solo on Sympathy on Ya Yas !!

Discussion now closed !!

Bjornulf, please close this thread immediately in case anyone dares challenge the supremacy of this masterful piece of guitar playing.

Alternatively, leave the thread open - but simply assassinate anyone who disagrees !!

LOL George Harrison's What Is Life and Awaiting On You all don't even have guitar solos!!

I don't want to question paulywauls judgement, so I'll agree with him.

Otherwise a list like this is just a flash of narcism by the author, who is displaying
is personal taste. Pointless and some obvious great solos are missing in action.
What about "The Great Curve" by Talking Heads? Not on the list, but amazing. How about
some amazing solo's by various Fleetwood Mac members? There's only Albatros and Man of the world
in this list. No "I'm so afraid" or "Oh Well".
And why is "Won't get fooled again" rated so high? There's not much of a guitar solo
on this otherwise great song, is there?

So we better move on and listen to the solos we love.

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

I would have to wonder who compiled this list and would say they are hard of hearing or have never listened to most of the music I listen to.

Wow, that is a quite ... nonsensical list. At the very least, would it have killed them to have noted each guitarist they were honoring, e.g, calling out Mick Ronson rather than David Bowie for "The Width of a Circle"?

Compilers of rock guitar lists could make it easier on themselves by just taking any 100 solos from Hendrix's oeuvre and calling it a day.

What utter crap! However, I was glad to see Dick Dale, "King of the Surf Guitar" included.

Jimi Hendrix -Machine Gun live from Band of Gypsies album is #1 by a landslide.
Everything else falls by the wayside.

I totally agree with you in general it's a pile of shit IMHO. I mean" Let it Rain " by Clapton could not even make the list.

Ya know ya in a crazy dive when the mirrors in the rest-rooms are aluminium sheets

At the end of the night somewhere around 20 guitar playin' boys all on stage fightin' for the spot-light while crashing thru Link's RUMBLE ....

The Mexican gal was smokin' hot toooooooooo ....

I'm not even gonna read the list, because I know all these list makers unfortunately have masturbation as a job description.

But without even reading the list, I don't even have to guess that David Gilmour didn't make the list -- for his solo on a pre-Dark Side Rick Wright composition, which proves that these wangkersons just don't know what they're listing about.

I hate these lists. Like Rolling Stone magazine is pretty much reduced to this sort of stuff. "500 best stage designs" "500 best roadie shirts" Its pretty awful and usually just click bait.

any list without this Keith solo just isn't worth shit:

I'm on the other side of the fence. Growing up, I read books such as the Almanac, Book of Lists, and literature of historical significance. I should have kept all my t-shirts from various tours and not washed them.
