Really liking this band. Rich Robinson & other expatriate Black Crowes. Killer cover of "Let it Loose". 1 of my favorite Stones songs. Sure would love to hear the Stones play that song but that's probably not going to happen.
Quote Silver Dagger Got the album yesterday. It is indeed very good.
what makes it even better is its not even a magpie salute album really. it was originally announced as a rich robinson Woodstock sessions II release and then when they started touring as magpie salute they changed the name and added a studio single to it
I have a ticket for one of their upcoming shows, can't wait!
Rich Robinson and Marc Ford together are absolutely brilliant. When you listen to Black Crowes bootlegs, that was by far the best combination of guitar players in this band. The other guys where fantastic too, but these two guys together is as good as it gets for this kind of music.
Just hoping they add Steve Gorman to the band, that would be perfect!
I am a big Crowes fan and Rich's new band keeps that vibe alive. Going to see them in Boston and really looking forward to that concert.
Chris Robinson was interviewed by Howard Stern recently and he was reasonably retrained when asked about the Crowes and his brother. He basically said the Crowes are done and will never tour again and that his brother is fronting a Crowes tribute band.
I know from hearing Rich interviewed that he said the same about the Crows being done as part of the issue is over money and that he claims Chris wanted the rest of the band to be his employees but I still hold out hope they will settle their differences and tour again some day. IMHO they are one of the last true classic rock bands who can still viably make new music and tour together.

I bought tickets for Seattle today. Show is in September. Looking forward to it! The album is real good & they do a stellar cover of Pink Floyd "Fearless". & some Bob Marley! Good stuff.
'Let it Loose" is such a great song, but it takes a really great lead vocal. And, I like R Robinson pretty good, but he is just such a dull singer. Still - I'd pay to go see that band. Him and M Ford - very good. Yes, Gorman with them would round it out.
