So...Anita is gone, and has taken all her secrets with her. I remember how enthralled I was by her the first time I saw 'Performance'. 'Performance' was chosen by the BFI as the best British film of all time and Anita's presence was the very heart of the film.

I was hoping that she would publish if not a book, at least a very long interview. Her story is inspirational, because she truly did hit rock bottom - 20 years of heroin addiction and 20 years of heavy drinking - and then she came out the other side and the last 10 or more years were filled with accomplishments, pleasure and warm relations with friends and family. In recent interviews, she seemed happy and peaceful, full of hard-won wisdom.

I'm glad she decided never to write the kiss and tell memoir that all the publishers wanted. A classy lady.

Condolences to everyone who loved her.
You hit the nail right on the head and I think that is where she was the most classiest where she did not cash in by writing a tell all that would be the ultimate insiders tell all of the most formative and most turbulent time in the Glimmers life and career ..God Bless her for her ultimate discretion .

The Rolling Stones should do something to honor her and pay tribute .Something along the lines of a concert in Hyde Park .

Perhaps a dedication of " you got the silver" to her in One of the German or Italian concerts might be appropriate

I think it's fair to say she ultimately made the band better by bringing to the proceedings just the right amount of witchy magic, dark sexual energy and drug-fueled conflict. She made them dangerous, and that came across in the music. For a while, she was as much a Stone as any of them.

Yes, as a muse...as a major influence on their look and their sound. Her impact and influence cannot be denied.

Time is marching on...Mick, Keith and Ronnie all have former longterm partners/wives who have passed away.

I agree with both of you very much.

It is, Anita was, rare in this world these days where most people... do what they do.

She was great, saying that "Little" Posh Spice had written a biography; what a clever put down, as she felt she didn't need to write an autobiography. She was correct, as it would only centre on her life around the Stones orbit, and any salacious tittle-tattle. What a dignified lady !

Along with Patti Boyd, the greatest muse in rock n roll. Anita had style, and a
great sense of time. Her influence helped direct the Stones into what probably what was their greatest phase--hats off to Anita !

Very sad news, but I am glad she was not a casualty of the 60s. I read Stanley Booth's book a long time ago and one thing I came away with was that she was lucky to survive.
