About 1 hour before the doors open several large
vehicles pulled up to the front door and out walked
about 25 beautiful young women. They were instructed

Saw the Bimbos walking around in Lucca.no Stones fans they are for sure.something to get Jagger excited.

Wow. I stopped at 'Moonlight Mile'
which was a spiritual experience, complete w/ cathedral lighting.
No offense to any one here,
didn't need to keep seeing shots of the audience.
But that 'Moonlight Mile'
quite special.

It's a fantastic track, studio version as well!

My vinyl/DVD package arrived from Amazon on Friday.

Loving it.

I haven't always been blown away by the Eagle Rock "Vaults" releases...

...but this one's a winner.

I'm curious - were there (many) overdubs for this one?

If so: any 'pointers' to the most blatant/ obvious ones?

Don't know...probably...but to be honest I'm not really bothered.

Live recordings overdubbed to correct cock ups and bum notes never bother me.

A bum note on the night is gone in a flash...but you don't necessarily want to hear winking smileyit over & over again on the record !

I agree -
No bother at all.
Still would love to know what & where, though... smoking smiley (if àny, that is.)

Moonlight Mile and Sister Morphine are just magnificent. STUNNING.

I once read, here?, that Sister Morphine , to an addict, SOUNDS like it FEELS to come down from a high. To me this is a harrowing performance. Ronnie is just sublime.

Moonlilght Mile with Mick playing his little guitar pieces - just beautiful. It's always been one of my favorite Stones songs, this version just confirms it is a stone-cold classic.

GYYYO has always been my favourite Stones live record. THIS is challenging it. I LOVE it...

...but AMAZON DID deliver a CD/DVD combo, NOT he LP/DVD combo I ordered, so now the fight begins....I WANT the LP/DVD combo!

****** Rod - love the missus, the Stones, Springsteen, Travel, NYC, Cars and Apple.

It's not on the iTunes-version (86 mins runtime) - [iTunes.apple.com] , the 3 Bonus-Tracks are missing there.

But as already mentioned it's on the BR/DVD-Bonus (102 mins runtime).

I can neither confirm or deny.
The vivid memory of Best Buy day of release,
it was my H and I’s 2nd or 3rd date and I had to go to Best Buy

(ETA)Four Flicks is a concert DVD collection by British rock band The Rolling Stones, filmed during the band's Licks World Tour in 2002–2003. The collection was released exclusively through Best Buy on 11 November 2003, which caused other retailers to remove the band's previous releases from their stores.

Another outstanding release from The Rolling Stones.

As a documentary, the DVD is great, but...

I found it very annoying to have the concert interrupted by Black & White footage from the Stones talking about the next (or previous) track.
Also the fact that they took out 3 songs to use as "Bonus Tracks" pi... me off.

So I decided to rework the DVD with the software I have.

As I do not have professional software that can split and join VOB files,
I first ripped my DVD to HD mp4, using "iSkysoft iMedia Converter Deluxe".

Then I cut the resulting mp4 into 7 pieces with "Boilsoft Video Splitter",
to make it easier to work. ("intro+ Start Me Up", the three bonus tracks and the like).

I then used the special features of "AVS Video Converter" to join the parts in the correct order,
to cut out the Black & White stuff (trying to make the transitions as smooth as possible), to make the chapters and finally the menu.

Unfortunately, "AVS Video Converter" hasn't many "menu" options; you can only change the background, add the title (with a rather small number of characters), add some background music to the menu and that's it.

Next I let the software (still "AVS Video Converter") create the DVD.

Due to the fact that I had to convert to HD mp4 first and then back to DVD format, there is a small loss in resolution, but I find it minimal.

Although I worked frame by frame, the transitions were difficult too because of
those damned B & W parts and the "Bonus tracks", while some very minor footage between songs wasn't on the DVD or the first notes were already playing during the last 1 or 2 seconds of the B & W parts.

This thing just begged to be corrected...
cut the crowd, cut the talk, correct the playing order, fix this, fix that...
it is like they intentionally created a puzzle to be solved.

All I wanted was SF played live... there is a lot of way to do it.

Mick, next time keep it simple,
your music/band playing stands up on its own without a lot of BS.

PS
Select a Stone (4Flicks) is one of the few DVD gimmicks I ever appreciated. Most of the time I just want to watch my favorite band play without 30-60 jump edits per minute.... and the only crowd people I ever want to see on a live concert DVD is... NO ONE!! Not even if it is me!

I don't have much of a problem with any of this dvd except some of the same minor complaints that have already mentioned above.
My only problem is Ronnie's solo in CYHMK...almost complete overkill that lacks a lot subtlety and nuance.
It starts of decent enough, but then turns into a freight train blasting through a field of tulips...he literally shreds the vibe.
Then Karl steps back in and sort of reels Ronnie back in to a listenable groove, but the damage had been done.
